Of the 1100 tonnes allocated to the cockle fishers this year, only 630 tonnes were harvested, primarily due to the poor season & lack of cockles available to the commercial sector in their harvest areas.Guess what!!A significant reduction to the total quota will be imminent, so todays prices at approx $10-$15 a kilo will for sure be set to skyrocket again, nothing more certain.That coupled to fuel @ $2 a litre, not a cheap thing anymore is it?Finatic Quote Link to post Share on other sites

kayakfisher 0 Posted July 8, 2008 Report Share Posted July 8, 2008 Friends of ours own a tackle store and i asked for some cockles and they said they were $12 for a packet that fitted in the palm of your hand.
