vanders 0
has anyone used this knot? the video i was just watchin was saying that rapala lures are supposed to have a bit of "free loop" in the knot for the lure to move on, does anyone out there do this? i normally just tie my lures on with a uni knot :-\
Buff 0
For my small lures when I don't use a small clip I'll use the Rapala knot and yet to have it fail :icon_e_smile:I haven't used it for any larger lures as yet but will be giving it a go with some bigger ones very soon :icon_e_smile:
brenton 637
Hi Vanders I use it on both large and small and have found it very good,I did have some teething problems though and lost a couple of good fish which i put down to the knot when it was probably the way i was tying it.Now i pull up the granny before i do the blood (4turn) and leave a decent tag end and all is good.N.B it will usually break before the dbl uni though in the case of snags and if i was say fishing for kingy or something i might not use it,instead going for a lure clip and doubled blood which IMO is the strongest knot i know how to tie. cheers brenton
YoBBo 0
Does anyone know how the Rapala knot compares to the perfection loop?http://www.ausfish.com.au/knots/
David Ciaravolo 34
Vanders,Its a great knot, works well on small and big lures. Lures tied on with a loop will swim better and deeper than those connected using a normal fixed knot. Like Brenton said, much depends on how you tie it, ie, how tight the twists are and how small the overhand knot is, once you suss it out though, its the best knot for attaching lures as it is quick and easy!Yak
