fished out 0 Posted November 2, 2012 Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 Just looking at the various flies i have tied or bought i was wondering, in still water like dams etc when i am searching for fish hoy do i retrieve them? projoe 261 Posted November 3, 2012 Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 ok - dry flies those that float are cast to rising fish (trout)& usaully left for a minute or two in the area of the rising fish with out movement (in most cases) but if it is a muddler minnow this is slowly retieved with the figure 8 retrieve.wet flies those that sink - nyph pattern are again on moved with very slow erratic (fig 8 retrieve) retreives,minnow or streamer patterns are retrieved with a slow to moderate retrieve depending on what the fish are keen on that day. hope this info helps.
