Poppa Snake 1,399
I don't know Azcon but you had me thinking about it. So until one of the gurus answer I typed"Convert to WGS84" into the search function on here and that found some interesting reading.
jaffa 81
Evening all, as far as I`m aware the Greg James books use WGS84 datum so there is no need to convert anything. If you are referring to the set of no`s 35 01'06" 138 29'07" it is displayed as degrees/ minutes/ seconds. ie 35 degrees 1 minute 6 seconds. If you want to change the format /way it is presented you have to divide the no . of seconds by 60 (60 seconds in a minute) , so in the second set of no`s 138 degrees 29 minutes 7 seconds, divide 7 by 60. Answer is 0.16666 which when rounded to 3 figures (which is the accuracy used by most gps units) is 0.167, & so the the format is now expressed as 138 degrees 29.167 (minutes). or more simply 138 29.167. Cheers. Poppa Snake
Kingsley 19
Here's an online calculator to make it easy.Does Degrees Minutes Seconds, Decimal Degrees & Decimal Minutes conversions.http://www.csgnetwork.com/gpscoordconv.htmlOf course you can also change the settings on your GPS to take any of these formats, then change back to your 'normal' format and it will convert them for you.Same with different Datums, if you get marks in AGD66, change your GPS to AGD66 datum, enter the AGD66 marks, then change back to WGS84.This has been covered numerous times in the past.
