Guest SuperThahn
Id rather use a Tiagra 30W 50 is overkill
Guest Butters
i'd stick with the lever drag.. personal choice tho..
nicol 0
dunno aye ill take one off your hands to help you decide
Guest addict
lever drags are better reels but 9/o senator reels are a good hardy reel in its selve, nothing wrong with them.

Guest big lizard
stupid question Internationals are a far superior reel of course i'd fish an inter over a 9/0...... :icon_lol:
mullies_chaser 0
Yes a stupid question in logic Big Lizard but its a toughy for me. In paper the inter wins hands down of course. But Lloyd's 9/0 has a lot of sentimental value on its plate, if you had seen the reel and box in real life and the fish its caught on it you would probably do what im doing and chose the 9/0 over it any day... But I'd chose my tyrnos 30 over an inter50 or Penn 9/0 any day! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest big lizard
:icon_lol: Tyrnos 30 id rather my Senator 4/0 wide spool more line capacity http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/PLoE713T__wide_spool.jpg[/img]
mullies_chaser 0
hey big lizzard i just checked on the specs of the 4/0 wide spool and it doesnt seem to hold as much 30 pound line as the tyrnos 30 :P Give me a lever drag any day! ;D ;D

Shark_Fisho 1
There are pretty similar but they both have good and bad things the inters have more drag pressure, more line capacity and lever drag but the old Penn's a good nockaround reel rather then scratching the gold stuff off the inters, the old senators are built like a road horse.id prefer a Inter

Guest big lizard
500m of 35lb maxima ;D to be exact.....I have two 50TW's no need for the lil ol 4/0 wide it's retired pretty much, till i spool it with 80lb braid for the mouth if i ever build my GF110 broom stick ;DIve had them all 4/0's through to 10/0's mates have 16/0's etc and i still would go my inters..... GIVE me an Everol 14/0 yummmy bit big for little bronzies though :laugh:No one seems to speak of Daiwa SLT tournaments IMO they look like a great reel dunno why people steered away from them???? Guest shark hunter
you cant go past the penn inter.much easier using a lever drag reel.when i started shark fishing 12 years ago i did use the senator 6/0 9/0 at that time they where around my price range.but now i use a inter 50w and 80w i also have 955 965 975ld.so its internationals for me but if you are happy using the 9/0 then stick with it
sideshow 0
inter 50w and 80w i also have 955 965 975ld.so its internationals for me but if you are happy using the 9/0 then stick with it nice range of inters there mate!! but ya shood hava medium size inter also, ive got an inter 12 also, i think u shood invest in a 12 or a 16!!!! great size for all fish and sharksthanx lloyd
Guest shark hunter
yea mate i agree with what you are saying.thats why iam after a 16 inter.but trust me mate you will be surprised of what the 975ld will handle.out of the range i have that is my favourite

spinyeel 2
Saw a 44kg Kingie landed on a 6/0 Senator last August. Not the latest and greatest reel, but still tough and reliable,as are all old American made Penn's.
