kevilla_the_pomme 0
Can anyone advise the best way to deal with sting rays? Is there a safe way to unhook and return them?
Guest davidm#2
gday mate, and welcome to Strike and Hooki think that the best way to deal with releasing stingrays, is to once u hvae landed it wait till they calm down and stop flapping.then carefully lift them up by the sineses and turn them over.(if there to heavy cut the line)remove the hook, turn them back over then slowly drag them back into the water by using there sineses(never cut the barbs off)cheers
kevilla_the_pomme 0
Cheers,I'd seen other people cutting the barbs off but thought it was a bit unnessacary as i would prefer to return them unharmed.

luke_westlakes 4
eagle rays arnt to bad, just grab them by the spericals, flip them and get your hooks, but smoothies are a whole different story!! ive learnt my lesson with these things, after seeing a mate get barbed in the leg( hit a main artery and had major problems moving his toes, he can now move his toes down but not up)!! Best thing is to just cut the line and play it safe!
