Guest yogi
Hi RobIf your taking the Statesman I think the closest you'll get is Coopers Beach, I think the road down to the Cape will be 4x4, anyways, come out of Pt Hughes on the Moonta/Maitlands Rd, just out side of Hamley, turn right on to Chapmans Rd, then on to Coopers Beach Rd, that'll take you to Coopers Beach, or follow the Moonta Rd along a bit further and you'll come to Barnes Rd, follow this all the way to the end, you'll cross over Chapmans Rd and then on to rougher Rds out to the Cape, all the Rds across that way are unsealed so just take care.Mike

Compleat Angler 72
The road into the Cape and the Gap are still open at the moment. To get to the Cape you do have to go thru the farmers gate and he is ok about it if you SHUT the gate behind you and stay on the track. The Council is looking to close it because 4X4 and Motor Bikes are going into the dunes and causing damage. Motor Cycles are also roaring up and down the beach with no concideration for anyone else on the beach.Peter Leaney from Moonta has had a petition going and has received lots of signatures to keep it open. We had to give our copy back by the 25/1/10 but I will try to get a copy of the Cover Letter that went with it and post it on this site so you can all have a look at what is happening. This is one of the best camping area that is not a National Park. It would be a shame to see it closed.Compleat Angler Wallaroo & Moonta
