thefunkychicken 0
G'day.I've got a couple of questions:When manufacturers are listing the line capacities of certain reels they may specify a capacity corresponding to guage (200m/12lb) which is fairly self explanatory....What is "PE"?How do you work out equivalent classes between lb & PE?What's wrong with just going via lb/kg?Thanks in advance. vb4me 1
I think the pe rating is weight related and either 10 or 12 lb line is pe 1. Thats what I can gather from looking at the line ratings from some manufacturers. I am sure I saw 6lb rated as .5 pe so 12lb would be pe1 and 18lb would be pe 1.5 and 24lb is pe 2.Well thats me putting 2 and 2 together. Hopefully I didnt come up with
plankton 725
I too find the PE ratings confusing, I believe it's a method that is only used by line manufacturers in Japan. From what I've dug up on the web, a PE rating refers to a lines diameter, so all PE 4 line should be the same diameter. It also seems that the number used to relate to a test rating, PE 4 was 40 pound line, but I have read that this is no longer the case and PE 4 can be a few different breaking strains. I don't know why they don't just give it a test rating and state the diameter of the line.
