  1. This is just for information, and may not be complete, but the following is a list of shops that I know have stocks, and backup supplies,of Goolwa cockles; The Harbour Kiosk,O'Sullivan Beach boat ramp,Todd's Tackle,Brighton Road,Bitewell Fishing,Anzac Highway,Binks Marine,West Beach boat ramp,St Kilda Tackle and Tucker,St Kilda,Got One,Stepney,Sportfishing Scene,Cavan,Normanville Service Station,Normanville,The majority, but not all tackle/bait outlets on lower and some on upper Yorke Peninsula also have good supplies of Goolwa's
  2. Not sure if this helps or hinders the discussion, but the Charle Sturt Council bylaws were amended on 29 January 2008,to prohibit fishing in West Lakes "from any part of the inlet structure and extending 438 metres along the eastern walkway, within 20 metres of any bridge over the lake and within 6 metres of any private, residential or commercial property abutting the lake"This is the linkhttp://www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au/Portals/0/By%20Laws%20-%20Review%202008%20update.pdfThe relevant section is on page 25.
  3. My comment on things being sold at or near cost related only to stand alone electronics and accessories, not those involved in boat packages, and certainly not motors or boats.Granted,factory/distributor incentives are offered for boat shows, but when you have 4,5 or 6 dealers all offering the same deal at the same show, the nature of the buyer is to play dealer against dealer for the best price and the nature of the dealer is to keep reducing the price to get the sale in order to quit stock.I have seen it done time and again (and had it done to me) over the last 25 years. In the end the dealer tha
  4. I think you will find that the Adelaide Boat Show is actually organised and run by The Boating Industry Association of South Australia in conjunction with the Adelaide Convention Centre. To the best of my knowledge, the interstate company that runs the 4WD and Adventure Show,Home Show etc,has no involvement with the boat show. The same goes for the Caravan and Camping Show, organised and run by the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of S.A.In both these cases the money stays in S.A.That being said, the Boat Show in it's present format is way off the mark and could do with a shift back to Wayv
  5. Forums do not daunt me in the slightest. After 25 years in the Bait Tackle and Marine industry I just tend to keep to myself and comment only if and when neccessary. My original post was only made after doing my homework in order to make sure that any bait purchase I made for the shop I work for was done according to the letter of the law.At the time that was the advice that I received. If the situation has changed, great.Rest assured,my comment's/post's may be few and far between at times, but they will be made based on research or personal knowledge.okym
  6. After talking some mates in both the wholesale and retail bait trade I did some research of my own on cockles.First up it seems that few if any local Goolwa cockles are going OS.Some are going to NSW for food, some to Vic for bait and food, some to SA for bait. The problem appears to be that the cockles have gone into "winter mode" a few months early and are just plain hard to get in any quantity. The other interesting thing I found out, after a lot of phone calls is that the Chinese cockles, apparently,do not have a Quarantine certificate from AQIS for bait. They are certified for food, but not for u
