  1. Just got home from seeing the orthopedic surgeon, I was in & out of there within five minutes.. Hips have arthritis but no need for replacements which was great news.. The bad news was the fact my L3, L4 & L5 discs are just about non existent and need urgent attention, so now I have to see a spine specialist or neurosurgeon.. I have another dose of injections tomorrow so will see my doctor and ask why the hell wasn't I referred to those specialists first up.. Actually it was a woman doctor at the surgery who organised the appointment, so I gather he will she why sh
  2. I love the shallow spools, 98/100 meters of 4 lb mono, less waste, never need 250 mtr spools for trout fishing rivers..
  3. Thanks doobie, it was one of my better sessions in a river for the season that's for sure, as for my back I see the surgeon tomorrow about my hips & lower back. The L3, L4 & L5 discs are not in the best of condition.. so I'll just have to wait and see what he comes up with.. I do know both hips are supposed to be replaced, the back they were talking about removing the discs & inserting titanium rods in the spine.. I'm now sure I want to go through that at this stage..hopefully there's a better solution.. cheers Adrian
  4. Seeing as the trout season opened last Saturday & I haven't been able to go since it opened due to being laid up in bed with lower back problems I thought I'd find a video of one of my better spin sessions last April.. cheers Adrian
  5. Thanks doobie, Yes I see you're all in lock down for a week, hopefully it comes good pretty soon.. the 7th August & I'm back into it.. hopefully the rivers will have dropped down by then as they're all running high & a very cold three degrees at the moment.. cheers Adrian
  6. This trip was on the last day of March, chasing trout in my favorite tannin stream on private property, how lucky am I to have it all to myself.. Not long to go now before I'm back in a river, trout season opens on the 7th August.. cheers Adrian
  7. Thanks doobie, it was nice to prove them wrong that's for sure.. I never got back to them to tell them about the trout I caught there either.. cheers Adrian
  8. This trip was back on the 7th March 2021, it's to a long stretch of fast/medium flowing water on the upper Mersey River in the Mole Creek area above the Union Bridge. I was told by several trout fishers that there weren't any trout to be seen in the area and that they had wasted their time fishing there. For me that was a challenge, surely there had to be a few trout in this stretch of river. I knew the trout had dropped off after the 2016 record floods and the influx of cormorants didn't help either, there should be some trout back in the area by now. This long stretch of water is wide open w
  9. Scrub worms were one of my favorites back in my day for fishing in Sth Aust too, used to dig them up near Gumeracha on the Gorge Road, we actually used to call them Hill worms back them, very big worms they were too 8 to 10 inches long... Worms are great down here early season when the rivers are running high (clear or dirty) & cold, Wattle grubs can be used all throughout the season & grasshoppers/crickets from January to the first or second week of April.
  10. This was a day (19th March 2021) when I was lucky enough to be in the Mersey River when there was a massive Mayfly hatch, the trout were having a great time sipping them off the surface. This was the best hatch I've seen on this river since 2009 when I was lucky enough to see a monster Dun hatch in the stretch of river..(see photo) The trout fishing was tough going due them feeding on the Mayflys.. Actually seeing what I did was the highlight of the day for sure, the trout I caught were a bonus.. Massive dun hatch, Mersey River. Weegena. (25-11-09) cheers Adrian
  11. Our wind farm on the North West coast of Tassie will re-direct it to Victoria doobie.. well, that's my theory anyway.. cheers Adrian..
  12. Looks like the worst of it may have missed Adelaide at this stage.. https://www.weatherzone.com.au/radar/sa/adelaide/128km https://www.weatherzone.com.au/sa/adelaide/adelaide
  13. Certainly doesn't look all that good.. depends on how much rain comes with it for the rivers/streams etc, the wind is going to be the main problem.. massive high tides too.. stay safe guys.. cheers Adrian
  14. It's certainly changed along the upper reaches of the Torrens River with so much of it being off limits which is a shame.. I'm sure your mates would be happy to let you put some fingerlings in their dams.. cheers Adrian..
  15. It's definitely an impressive looking system on the Satellite. http://satview.bom.gov.au/
  16. Just came across this weather warning for SA an hour ago.. doesn't look all that good .. Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds and abnormally high tides for people in Adelaide, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Kangaroo Island and parts of West Coast and Murraylands districts. BoM: "A deep low pressure system centred south of the Bight will move eastwards to be near Kangaroo Island on Thursday morning and over western Victoria later in the evening. Strong to damaging northwest to westerly winds, a
  17. I've put a couple of size 1 anti-kinks and a few small spiral swivels & snaps in a envelope for you which I'll drop in the post tomorrow Steve.. cheers Adrian

  19. Not that I know, sometimes called keels.. found this at BCF online.. Anaconda have them too.. The ones I but don't have the snap swivel on them.. not sure what sizes are available there either. https://www.bcf.com.au/p/wigston-anti-kink-keels-5-pack/218858.html https://www.anacondastores.com/fishing/fishing-lures/lure-accessories/tasmanian-devil-anti-kink-keel-5-pack/90077555?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5auGBhDEARIsAFyNm9FHpLPn44dqvx5MhBgHhbEaqqlOfnXjLo8NRUqeENyhfSo-77n8CU0aAv-FEALw_wcB Cheers Adrian
  20. Trout in locals dams, very nice & good on'ya... I gather they're rainbows too, very aggressive and they grow big in dams as well. I used to fish a couple here in Sheffield & Barrington, best rainbow I caught in that was 9 lb.. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun fishing them.. All good Steve, let me know how you get on with the anti-kinks.. cheers Adrian
  21. Thanks doobie, I don't get line twist when using the anti-kink, without them the line does get some minor twisting that eventually worsens the longer I fish without the anti-kinks. I'm interested to see how the small roller bearings will go when I test the new setup without the anti-kink, it would be great if this works. I'm not all that sure about the second anti-kink setup with the roller bearing, even though it's small the added weight may not be the way to go. Only time will tell I suppose.. cheers Adrian..
  22. Yes, very lucky having so many rivers/streams to choose from down here Steve, this little tannin stream is on private property & I'm lucky enough to have around 3-4 kms of it all to myself thanks to a very kind landowner. Blade spinners can create line twist quite easily on most brands of mono lines, some worse than others, even more so with fine line., As you know I use a ultra fine 4 lb Ultra High Tenacity clear mono with a 6 lb leader with the anti-kink and I never have any problems with line twist.. I picked the anti-kinks up from local tackle stores here in Devonport. The ones I have
  23. With the trout season closed until the 7th August I thought I'd put a few of my 2020/21 trout fishing videos on the site from time to time... Hope you enjoy it, feel free to hit the like button as well.. thanks.. cheers Adrian..
  24. Thanks doobie, it was cold alright, finger were burning, yes they're a little rough down here at times the way the y fillet them. Trout are best kept whole & put in a smoker in my books.. not that I keep them any more now days... cheers Adrian
  25. This video was from a trip before the season closed... a very cold morning it was too, that cold the water off the grass froze on my wading boots on the walk to the river.. cheers Adrian..
