Just another beautiful section of the Meander River..
  2. From the album: My rivers & fish..

Another of the wild Mersey River rainbows, these fish are more aggressive than the browns and also fight harder. They also stress very quickly so it's best to release them as quickly as possible. I try not to handle them and least as possible.
  3. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This is a wild brown trout taken in the Dasher River, the majority of trout caught in here are always full of colour and this is due to the tannin water.
  4. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This is a small section of Western Creek, this always fishes well early & late season, Once the weather settles it drops to very low levels and is not worth fishing. It's a very scenic area to fish too.

The "Trout Stalker 2" a well know vehicle around the North of Tasmania.
  6. From the album: My rivers & fish..

One of the tough things about trout fishing rivers is working your way upstream in this type of water, but the rewards are worth it as there are always trout in this type of water.

This photo is of the Mersey River from private property at Weegena.

Another lovely stretch of the Meander River at Monatana.
  9. From the album: My rivers & fish..

A great stretch of the Meander River that often gives up some nice browns, it used to hold some good rainbow trout as well. After several dry seasons and an influx of cormorants from the mainland the rainbows were cleaned out and have never come back. The Inland Fisheries will not do a restocking program of rainbows at all. It is now just a brown trout river.
  10. From the album: My rivers & fish..

One of the nice solid browns that can be caught in the Mersey River.

One of the best rivers in the North of Tasmania to fish, the Meander River holds a lot of wild brown trout. My best brown was taken in this river, a 2.9 kg female brown that was photographed and then released back into the river. It was taken on 4 lb mono line and on a small Mepps #00 (1.5 gm) black fury spinner.

Just a selfie of myself spin fishing the fast water in the Mersey River.
  13. From the album: My rivers & fish..

Another narrow & rocky stretch of the Dasher River that holds a lot of small browns, this river only holds brown trout.
  14. From the album: My rivers & fish..

The Mersey River here at Weegena can hold some very nice brown & rainbow trout most times of the season, but it also has it's off days as well. But that's trout fishing for you.
  15. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This is just a small wild brown trout caught in the Dasher River 10 minutes from home.
  16. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This is a wild rainbow trout taken in the Mersey River, the rainbows in this river are all self sustaining fish and not stocked by the Inland Fisheries.
  17. From the album: My rivers & fish..

Another nice stretch of the Dasher River that fished well after a good couple of inches of rain. Always low in summer but rises & fishes well after rain.
  18. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This river always fishes well early and late in the trout season, during the summer it becomes very low & clear and it's not worth fishing.
  19. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This little river is what I call my practice river, it's small and has some tight fishing in many stretches and is good for keeping up my casting & accuracy skills.
  20. From the album: My rivers & fish..

This river is only a 15 minute drive from home, holds a lot of brown & rainbow trout.. great river to fish with lures, fly or bait.
  21. That's a beautiful Red, well done cracker of a fish..
  22. Yes it hasn't been that good at all, it's the driest we've seen it in the 16 years that we've been living here... Hopefully we'll get some rain soon to put a few of them out.. better still put them all out..
  23. I took these photos last week from my back door at sunset, the air and sky was full of very heavy smoke from the 80+ bush fires that were burning away down here, we've now only got around 50 still going.. These were take over two nights. cheers Adrian
