Yeah Trusting manufacturers specs on how thick their line is has caused me heart ache in the past - very annoying when you cant even fit a 100m top shot on a reel. I think that was about the time I went looking for answers and someone recommended Paulus Fishing. Scanning through all his Strength and diametre tests was a big eye opener. Surely the manufacturers know how thick their lines are but then they go and write something different on the label - super annoying . I suspected they did it to make their braids seem stronger than they were - ie if we say its thinner than it is,

Yeah I love those little time saving devices - but more importantly - things that take frustration out of the session. If theres a device that makes things run a bit smoother everytime you land a fish - Im into it. I did a flatty session without a flicker a while back and found out just how close the surface my rage is So alot these little things I make, are just to keep the demons bottled up inside where they should be -

Yeah I like a device which cradles and contains the fish a bit - especially on those small flatties - handling those little buggers is like trying to tame a toddler mid tantrum -

Ahh sorry for passing on the Spam - I just joined a heap of Whiting pages and it didnt take long to came across it Yeah I'd never pay $40 for one, as Ive already got stuff that that does the job - I just thought it was a nice idea for whiting. We were having difficulties measuring flatties on the week end, as my mate had thrown out my Genius measurer. So "measuring devices" were on my mind My measurer is made out of roof gutter cleaner, so you can scoop little flatties off the floor for a quick measure, and flick them over board with out getting spiked - works on whiting too -

These are my expendables. The cloth work isnt the best after a few sessions - nothing that cant be glued back in place though. I did check the lead keels and eyelets for straightness and was willing to tweak them back into line but they were all good. A couple got some minor tweaks but I was being pretty picky Truth be known - I originally bought them to use over rough ground - but now I just tie em on and leave em on.

Yeah Ive got full confidence in the 4 strand after a few years of using it - it really suits the way I fish. My experiences have basically been trouble free or as trouble free as things can get with braid - Theres no "break in" period like my old line "Berkley Fireline" - no fluffing - it performs great straight after spooling up. - limp enough to detect little bites on free falling unweighted lures - Consistent breaking strains with no unexpected breaks (Actually there was 1 spool of 6lb I bought early on, that broke at around 4lb) But the spools I bought before and the 10 -

There was far too much passing the flicker around on the weekend for my liking - we did a flatty drift and there were 3 blokes constantly hooked up on micro flatties. This was causing a queue for the flicker - that will not happen again Upgraded the flatty flickers to Stainless Steel from an old pie warmer tray I found. The coat hanger ones are good (left in the first photo)- but they arent as robust as a bit of thicker stainless. -

Had to sharpen 7 pencils from scratch - One took 50 manual turns with a sharpener - bugger that. Its an ancient technique and I stuffed up the footage a bit - but you get the gist -

Yeah you couldnt complain about the amount filling. I remember him buying a scallop fish pie from a bakery 20 years ago - He was gutted when there wasnt a single scallop in there. They had sold out the day before and he was so pumped to finally get his hands on one I think they way he makes his pies today, may be a reaction to that -

Yeah the colours on the Pizza got a bit washed out when I look at it on my Iphone - the crust is a bit more golden on my laptop. Still could have done with a few more mins in the oven But I'd happily chow down on either -

Geez thats some hi tech gardening - very impressive Yeah that watering system could be the difference between life and death in the warmer months - I used to have to get who ever was in at work, to drench them while I was away. And pray for Rain over the XMAS break. I just used to run the cherry tomatoes every year as everyone in the office loved them. Some offices have bowls of sweets - ours had fresh pick cherry tomatoes to snack on for a few months of the year But the ground would have garbage bags full of leaves and organic material ploughed into it after the crop was done -

Haha - yeah who would have thought Lettuces would be the new big cash crop a few years ago Nice set up you have there and Rain water would be a massive bonus to any garden. -

Some mighty fine looking dishes there Mah - my back yard doesnt get the right amount of sun for good growing conditions. But before I worked from home, the office had a long strip of land in the carpark, that I claimed for my self as a veggie patch. It would produce literally 1000's of cherry tomatoes over summer- also had an assortment of herbs in there so it was a handy resource. We had a few green thumbs at work so I was never short of advice or food to feed them You definitely savor the flavour of the stuff you grow yourself -
Been cooking up a few whiting fillets recently and its got me thinking. Im all about shallow or deep frying - either dusted with flour, herbs and spices or batter made from the same ingredients. I have been accused of overpowering the taste of the fish in the past - but thats how I like it - and I can still taste the fish underneath it all The main flavours I use are, italian herb mix and garlic powder mixed in with the flour. If Im feeling saucey I'll drizzle over some sweet chilli sauce over the fillets right at the end, so the sauce caramelizes but doesnt burn. Finish w

The whiting werent firing as hard as last time but we still got a few - Freshly caught squid was effective early on but by the end - if you didnt have a pippie squid cocktail - they werent interested. We had to pack up just as the current started and the fish were coming on the chew - but you'll never miss a nibble on a nibble tip. That Whippy yellow tip leaves no doubt as to whether you've had a nudge or not. You get alot more tip movement from the same bight. Its not a huge game changer, if you are already watching you tips like a hawk - it just really accentuates nibbles which
