  1. Shimano jewel or raider in 1-3 or 2-4 would be a good start $99 at ray and annes and I'd probably Go with the daiwa legalis 2000 $129 on special. My advice would be go in and see you you like the feel but you'd have a very nice set up for $230. I used the legalis on a t curve and was impressed with it.
  2. Ha ha I was just about to post about the numerous bogging I saw down there that day.Don't buy a Toyota kluger and use it on the beach if its the same one your talking about. I've got a Nissan x-trail hardly what you'd call an off road vehicle and gets up and down easily just gotta make sure the tyres are 22-25 psi and easy work.
  3. Saltiga bay rubber / lucanas type jigs are excellent! Weight wise 1 gram every meter you're fishing in is the way to go unless the tide is really moving you'd go a bit heavier. So 30 meters 30gram jigs.I can't remember the spelling but adageo jigs are good for snapper too.
  4. WOW... Went down for a look this afternoon at St Kilda would have easily got my bag limit, kept 6 & made for some very nice eating on the BBQ. There was a school coming around of bigger salmon i managed 2 around the 34cm mark but there was defiantly bigger around. Loads of fish between just under legal to 23cms. Was definitely my most successful trip using SP's.Thanks for the advice guys!
  5. I've been trying mainly when the tide is rising i will definitely be trying on the ebb when i get the chance.I'm using 10lb finns braid is that too heavy? Can't wait to get out there this weekend i always used bait fishing but learning plastics has become addictive. Thanks for the advice guys, very helpful
  6. Hi guys, I've been messing around at St Kilda without too much luck with the Trout there's plenty there but they wont seem to bite. Just wondering what is the best time to try for them.I'm new to SP fishing but i've found Berly Gulp in Watermelon Pearl seem to pick up the odd one or two. Maybe i'm using the wrong plastics i don't know???If someone can lead me in the right direction i would be very happy.
  7. I will give it a go for sure. What's the best product to use to put a clear finish over top once you've done all the paint work etc?
  8. Looks sweet. Just out of interested can anyone explains what required to do up a rod similar to the pics you've posted. I've got a Penn Sportfisher Rod that's chipped i'd love to have a go at fixing her up... My Fav Rod deserves a bit of a restoration...
  9. Hi,I'm after some help sorting out my spinning outfits. I've just started out with plastics and lures so i've got a lot to learn. I'm after a light outfit for bream/Salmon trout and a heavier outfit for Snapper/Mulloway.Most of my current gear is heavy offshore type stuff so i'll be selling some of it so i can buy some decent lighter stuff. At the moment i have a Daiwa sol 2500 with a fairly cheap Daiwa Sensor Rod i got from Rays outdoors but it doesn't balance too well with the reel.Basically i'm after a rod to match the sol and another Rod & Reel combo. If you can offer some advice in reg
