  1. thanks mate im not far from there and was thinking bout checkin the poppers they have so ill deinfatley be looking at the k9's i dont mind spending a few extra $$ on a decent lure i just mainly hold those 1's in reserve for places im less likely too lose them but as we all know if something big enough wants it bad enough theres always the chance it wont make it back too you ,Ill be having a look at the sub surface x-raps aswell i like the sound of that alone as i generally tend too work my lures close too the surface when salmon fishing anyway .MM
  2. cheers mate i reckon ill have a look for a couple of those in the next or so your right too mate theres nothing like seeing ya lure just doing its thing them wham out of no where it gets belted right before your eyes .Ive got redfin on popper before and that was fun just too see me hitting it ,i reckon a nice size salmon would be just that much better though.MM
  3. no worries if they are in the 40gm range ill be able too get away with flicking em on my 2-4kg stick thats all i use for chucking that sought of weight with chromies cheers mate im itching too get into em on a popper now .MM
  4. sweet cheers mate so in the same sought of weight range as the metal lures ive been using we are thinking about hittin waits on monday never know might just give it a crack then thanks again im guessing that these wuld be around 100mm or so aswell .MM
  5. yeah im more leaning towards 1 of those rare days when its nice and reasonabley calm and ya get lucky and find a school close enough in this morning would of been a good time just the fish werent really that thick so not sureif theyd of been excited enough for it will definatley be looking into though be some good footage for jimbo too play with if it works out .MM
  6. hi fellas as youve probabley read by now ive been gettin into my fair share of the salmon schools lately,now im not having trouble catching fish just wondering if anyones had a crack at them with poppers and what type of popper where you using i love seeing fihs hit lures on the surface and wouldnt mind giving it a crack next time i find em all fired up i reckon it would be a blast .MM

  8. dont want too worry you but im 99% sure my mate used too have a surf rod in that brand was alright for the first few nights till he went too flick mully bait out and it clean snapped in half .In saying that though he is the only fella i know who has had atleast 1 of them .So it could of just been a defective rod personally after seeing and hearing it happen beside me ill prob sreer clear of those myself.MM

  10. i might go and see if theres been any salmon around lately wouldnt mind catching a cuople on light gear and maybe some redfin with southie or even try crack my first trout somewhere down south i been told about .MM
  11. sounds like good sessions allround today i bagged out htis morning aswell mate then went back tonight just for fun and easily got another bag limit but gave away a few and let the rest go.MM
  12. i had a similar experience with a shimano technium plus rod used it once went out for a 2nd sess light drag settin went too pull the line down barley any drag at all and snapped clean in half .Although since then i brought a boss precision series graphite rod and havent looked back ,Guess theres always a bad apple in the bunch somewhere we just happened too be the poor suckers too pick it.MM
  13. next time ya go there softy n co if ya mate hooks up and youve got a bait in the water take an extra rod with ya and if mate beside you hooks up and you dont rather quickley after jump on the opposite side too where your bait is and get a lure out there asap chances are they just arent comin through far enough too find your bait but theyll always find a metal slug when ya dong em on the head with it .MM
  14. just got back from a quick flick down the sth side hooked up about 10 minutes after arriving only too lose it about 3 mtres from the shoreline ahh well i think ill give this single hook rig a go been losing too many fish on trebles lately .MM

  19. no worries mate i might make my way down there again in a couple of hours aswell and flick some lures around had a good run on them the other day second cast was into a fish :woohoo: .If you head too the same area i think you were fishing from what i can tell by what the fish was sittin on they should come in again .Around what time did you hook up ive found lately they fire up a bit as the tide is dropping back out . a quick look at your profile pic tells me we were fishing together last week .Welcome aboard too mate .MM

  21. hi fellas just wondering if anyone has ever owned/used or even heard of a cutsom built rod by a fella called michael winwood as i was at a mates place tonight and i guess the right place at the right time because he gave me 1 of these rods its and 8 foot overhead with roller tip. any feedback would be good cheers .MM
  22. g'day welcome too strike hook i reckon i could probabley speak for jimbo here myself and him run very similar gear for onk mullies i myself use a abu garcia bait runner in the 4050 size running 12lb fireline ,usually with a 15lb leader of around a mtre or so decent size circle hooks from around 5/0 up just enough sinker too keep the live bait on the bottom and if not using a livey and depending where the fishing is happening if the current isnt too strong no weight for a dead bait .thats what i mainly use for onk mullies.Oh and 1 other piece of gear i dont generally have at my disposal this bl

  24. just had a quick read of that article mate i cant believe how stoopid i feel right now although brain spiking tuna is 1 thing thinking of doing it too a carp is another ,the only thing i did notice they hadnt mentioned (from my quick read anyway)is that with the tuna if you get a knife and rub it just above and between the eyes up and down it will produce a clear sought of opake spot witch we used too notch out with the knife and then insert a stainless spike through the brain and down the spinal cord almost the entire length of the fish.then we would using a finger disconect the poo pipe fro
