  1. G'day mate, fresh grated ginger, finely chopped red chilli, fresh corriander, garlic, fresh lemon thyme, lemon zest, a little bit of extra virgin olive oil, lime juice all go great with fish, you could make a dresing and put it on afterits steamed or rub it on the raw fish, wrap it alfoil and cook quickly in the oven. Dont forget cracked black pepper also....Have fun...Tim....

  2. Well at least all the windows I cleaned this week have had a good rinsing off :P;)
my back yard.I now have waterfront property!
Same in my backyard too CK' date=' but try asking the council to stop the water coming from the property they claim to NOT own when I know they DO  I certainly feel for the guys on the land trying to get their best crops in years harvested before they get ruined [/quote']Yes .....well said ! The poor buggers cant win can they !Tim.....
  3. If you know what O'brian ( fisheries minister ) did to the prolobster fishery this year, ( reduced quota, and closed october) withno scientific evidense, you land based shark fishos have no chance !The pro lobster fishery has a lot of pull, and they could'nt changea thing ! Good luck..... the blokes a cowboy !!!!Tim.....

  4. No I don't mate, just boil it until its cooked , and smoke it while its still hot and juicy.Ive only just seen those harks in the wild coast mag, and my local "spot on" has one sittingout the front, looks great ! $310 bucks I think. I really like the idea of the gas, so muchless mucking round. Would you smoke fish, ham/pork, and cheese at the same time , or seperatly ? Also, do you wash it out after each use or just leave it to "season" it , so tospeak ? ( sorry for all the questions !)Tim....

  5. Ranger, re the smoked chicken, I always boil mine first and then smoke it. Can never be toocareful when it comes to chicken I think ! I'm about to get one of those Hark smokers, I have the smaller box type ones, a slightlylarger stainless steel one ( which is great) but that's nearly had it and a larger one I madeyears ago that my brother has claimed ! Cant wait to get the new one.....Tim.......

  6. I don't know mate....probably nothing ! Its horrible to see isn't it !A few years back, me and 2 friends stayed at the Edithburgh caravan park for a week, I didn'thave my boat, so we just fished from the jetty with good results. Every morning I wouldwatch this fellow and his wife who lived in the caravan park get the boat ready, launch it,head out to the Island ( watched them with binoculars) and return 2 hours later with there24 whiting, clean them and fillet them, and have a hours rest or so and then head out againfor another 24 whiting, clean and fillet again, all done by 4pm in the arvo !This happenedfor 5 days straight....48 whiting a day( I counted them as they cleaned them ) 96 filletsa day , for 5 days straight......480 fillets for the 5 days !I took some old bait down tothem, coz I wanted to get in their faces and let them know I was watching, and he had to gethis wife to say thank you, coz he couldn't speak English !!!!!!!!!I don't care how much you enjoy eating fish.....you could never eat that much !!!Tim...

  7. Somthing I heard, but hav'nt done yet is Don skinless franks, or footy franks in a thermosof boiling water, packet of hot dog rolls and some sauce or mustad. Hot dogs when ever youwant them on those cold nights sitting in the boat or on the jetty !Great idea I reakon !!!Tim...

  8. My earliest memories are from the Port River, but I cant really remember my fist fish !Probably a trumpeter on a hand line. I was lucky, Dad fished every weekend either locallyor away, I can remember being washed in at Parsons Beach and saved by my older brother, washed in at Second Vally and being smashed up against the rocks and saved by a off dutypoliceman ! ( Dad must of hated taking me fishing ! Ha Ha !)I have a photo of myself fishingon the jetty at Port Elliot, and I would've been 7 or 8 I guess !( I'm 49 now )I can alwaysremember going to Edithburgh as a young fellow with Dad and I bought a metal slice ( Halco type) lure from the general store, first cast off of the jetty, casting towards Wool Bay,I hooked a big Garfish, I think that was the moment that shaped my fishing for years tocome, I still prefer fishing with lures than bait ! AS a youngster and a teenager I fishedall over the state, thanks to my Dad.I wished I was half the fisherman that he was !Tim...

  10. I work in the commercial fishing industry ( I'm not a fisherman !) I was in a fishing portin the south east for work ( we have a live lobster holding facility there )and was talking to a shark fisherman who I know very well who just got into port. He was tellingme that on that trip, net fishing for sharks, he hit a patch of mulloway. Pro sharkers arealoud to keep a certain amount of scale fish by catch, not exactly sure how much he said but its not much, maybe 40kg. Anyway, the mulloway kept coming into the boat and he said that the deck was covered in them. Not wanting to throw them back he rang fisheries and askedwhat the best thing to do was owing to the fact he had so many. He was told to remove themfrom the boat ( he was still out fishing in the middle of the night). After a heateddiscussion with them, he offered to process and freeze the fish fillets free of chargeand donate them to an old folks home, a hospital or the RSL. He was willing to do all thisunder fisheries supervision and let fisheries take the fish to distribute. He was flatlytold no, and had to dump 100's of kilos of mulloway into the sea. He told me that inthe moonlight all he could see was the silverfish floating dead on the surface. Is'nt that incredible......Tim..

  11. Bran and pollard , white bread torn into small pieces, mix together with warm water tomake a nice stoggy mix and then add some tune oil. I only use small amounts , just enoughto get the fish interested, dont over feed them ! You get bran and pollard from stock feedsuppliers.Tim...

  12. G'day mate,Like Ranger said, 3.5k is a tight budget, but what ever you do, if you do find a f/glasshalf cab for that sort of money make sure it has'nt got a soft transom or soft/rottenfloor. What sort of outboard do you have ?Good luck, I hope you find what your looking for, theres nothing better than getting yourfirst boat.Tim.....
