  1. Booked my holidays a while ago (had to) i was so looking forward after a year of 12 hour days to hit my favorite spot yorkes for a week of fishing. Ok so the 3 nights we spending in Ardrossen is gonna have 20-25 knot winds and then we leave for Port Turton straight into a dodge tide for 3 days we are there. Bit deflated to be honest, but what are my chances of catching anything of the jetty???

  2. Yeah the sign really needs respraying badly, jeeze youd really think after fishing there for that long i woulda seen it, LOL. its weird that its an aquatic reserve there, but you can still fish there??? Crabs are prolific, more than fish id say, weird that you can catch fish but not crabs????

  3. Been fishing at Port Noarlunga Jetty for the last 25 years of my life. I dont like crabs so ive never worried about crabbing much in my life, but my Girlfriend of 2 years loves crabs so weve bought a few nets of late and went down for some fishing n crabbing with a few mates. I was wondering why people were looking at me while ditching the crab net out, it wasnt until a nice man came up to me and said its illegal to use a crab net from the Jetty. I was stunned, i said what do u mean, he said u cant crab from this jetty there is a sign telling u that at the start of the Jetty. I packed up the net immediately and we walked down to look at the sign, we couldnt see one saying no crabbing, just the usual, no dogs, no jumping, no drinking etc. It wasnt until we left for the night that we noticed a very faded and very unreadable sign painted on the ground which said something about crabs. Man if i woulda got done by fisheries last night i woulda been spewing as i was completely innocent not knowing and there sign on the ground is very unreadable they woulda had a fight in court on there hands, i always obey fishing rules but this sign is simply not good enough!!!Anyway after 25 years of fishing there i never knew this lol

  4. Boys n girlsGonna have a few hours of fun today and try squidding at marino. Never done it before, not even really sure where to go or what rig to use?? from the rocks/shore do u use floats with the squid jag?? or normal cast and retrieve motion?? Presuming whereever your supposed to go its gonna be a rocky bottom??? I dont no man :)

  5. What is the actual problem with carp? I have heard that there very bony and hard to fillet as to why no one eats them? A guy walking past the other day said that the size we were catching that would be easy to fillet and worth eating?? I offered him the fish but he said no, lol. We were saying that its cruel that u catch these really big fish but cant eat them, does anyone no why no one eats them, do they taste like shit??Im taking red jelly beans next time ;)

  6. Popped in and saw me rellies at meningie and chucked a line in hoping for some callop or redfin, but instead had a ball with some MASSIVE carp. I remember as a kid catching them in the river torrens and dragging in a dead weight, not these beasts there taking line, BIG runs and putting up some very entertaining fights on 8kg line, had a absolute ball with them, no point using the tiger worms, they go in seconds we caught all of ours on corn kernals, lol, and a little kid down the track a bit was catching them on jelly beans, so if ya got some youngings and want to guarentee them to catch some BIG fish head on down there over the holidays for some real good fun:laugh:

  7. Trip over to yorkes last week, the missus wanted to learn how to squid and never had caught one but loves to eat them, so stopped of at wool bay "to show her how"Squid.jpgthe 2 little ones to the left are the ones i caught, LOL, she caught the rest, LOLbut i did turn one of those little ones into a 1.2 metre school shark later that night at Point TurtonJust one of those moments of this is how u do it and then just stood back and watched her bring in squid after squid, LOL, bloody funny

  8. I wish, Me and the missus staying at the Point Turton Spa Cabins $110 a night if u hire for 3 nights or more, its one of my favorite spots over yorkes and the first time we lashed out and got a spa cabin, love sitting on the balcony up on the cliffs and looking out over the water and surrounding area as the sun goes down fresh fish on the bbq and a cold bevvy, then its just a short stumble onto the jetty for a nights fishing, cant wait :)
  9. Heading over to yorkes next week for about 5 days, im hoping to get a few kingies or mullies, never had any success hooking a live bait up, not that ive done a lot of that anyway, i no with a squid u put 1 hook through the front part of tube and 1 hook through tail of tube, but how do u do a gar or tommie, pressumming they will be prolific over there and thats what ill be using, the coupla times ive done it i seem to paralise the fish and they dont move or just die, any tips boys?Cheers

  10. Got down Tennyson about 5.30am, right on the turn i think high tide was 6am, fished that permanent gutter??? right in front. Got keeper first cast, coupla little nibbles then a mullet, then a throw away mullet, then walked over sandbar then first cast another YFW, came home with 2 and a mullet, left about 9am Used a running sinker with size 6 hooks and tubeworms, smallest running sinkers i found in my t/box, 1 cm in length, was getting a lot of drift/pull to the left so have brought some size 3 running sinker for tommorrow morning, hopefully have a bit tighter linesFun Morning :)

  11. Heading down tennyson beach tommorrow morning, allways used a pattanosta rig, but just been reading around (while playing poker) and seems running rigs the go, is that the case? Just the 1 hook on a running sinker? I allways liked the 2 hook approach as i figure more chance but if running is the go i might try that, was down semaphore jetty last night from about 3am till 7.30am, didnt see a thing caught apart from a coupla little tommies that i saw, so might hit the beach tommorrow morning at tennyson :)
