  1. No B&K, there are no Agendas, it is purely an invitation, from PIRSA, to the elected representatives of the rich and varied Membership which is SARFAC :) I will be wearing my SAFWAA Pres. Hat and our Vice Pres will be attending too.Naturally, we will be banging our drum as loudly as we can and our first priority will be to chase a decision on opening SA Water Reservoirs to the South Australian Recreational Fishing Community. With all the positives which have come from the last two rounds of Workshops, I'm very excited about a good outcome but there is still a long road to travel and please be aware that nothing is for free, some financial costs will inevitably be incurred!

  2. Hi All,Stage 3 of the Workshops is locked in for the 19th of this month (April)PIRSA have entitled it the "Engine Room". This is where all the previous plans and discussions should be worked through to make a final plan to mend the long held rifts between the Recreational Fishers and the Fisheries Management (PIRSA)PIRSA have a new Managing Director and we were introduced to him at the last SARFAC General Meeting. He was extremely positive in attitude with a strong desire to move issues along quickly which have stagnated in the past. Everybody will now be aware of the lifting of the Port river anchoring ban which should have been done a few years ago!!I am looking forward to this Meeting and hopefully some of the positive outcomes that we can all build on.

  3. Came accross this post.Just to confirm' date=' there has been no change to the rules. Port Noarlunga Jetty is within the Port Noarlunga Aquatic Reserve.Rod and Handline Fishing is the only permitted activity from the jetty.Crabs nets are [b']not[/b] allowed. No fishing at all is allowed past the yellow line on the jetty.TroyFisheries OfficerBirkenhead

Hi Troy, Just Devils Advocacy again, (He made me do it!)I've often tangled up a sand crab or two in my mullet rigs, especially when using a berley spring off the Jetty and also off the beach! Is the thrust of the legislation to protect the Crabs in the Sanctuary, bearing in mind the actual sanctuary zone is from the marked line on the jetty out to sea, or is there some other issue with council or others about using nets generally from the Jetty? If the legislation is to protect the Crabs, does this mean any taken as a bye catch by other legal means, need to be returned to the water?Cheers, Tony.
  4. I reckon that's a cardboard cut out but I can't work out why you'd go to those lengths to paint and colour a crabby old "Mud Monster" on it   How about making the next one with a 30 lb "Big Red" or even better, a 100kg Mully :silly:OR, DARE I say, a 2 kg redfin?:laugh::laugh:

  5. Hi BB,YFW are suckers for live shrimps and any Imitation of these should be a goer B) I've caught YFW's at the Onka Estuary on poppers which are also meant to represent shrimps darting about to escape predators! Good luck with it mate ;)

  6. Me and Mars1 were pretty pi**ed off to see two guys spearing leathers, a strongy and a crab last night half way between Marino and Hallet Cove   :angry:They left their catch in a pool near us with the strongy still alive after being speared and when they came to pick up their catch they left the strongy behind! Mars1 said" You've left one behind" and he replied that he doesn't know why he speared it as they don't even eat them   :angry:SOOOOO frustrating as PIRSA would have been unable to do a thing about it and what could we do? Annoying that they will continue getting away with it as well!!!!While I'm having a bit of a "bitch", I might as well air another thing that upsets me, there are dozens of kayakers out on any fine evening in the summertime and not one of them wears a life jacket as required by law

  7. Hi i was just wondering what the rules are and if your allowed to snorkle and spear fish in places like north haven' date=' outer harbour and westlakes? Is it not allowed due to the fact that it is hard to measure fish and crabs?[/quote']Hi Nhan,Post your question up on the PIRSA Board mate for a definitive answer! They might not answer your question right away but when they do it will be spot on!My memory of the regulations are: no spearfishing within 600 metres of the Metropolitan Coastline. This excludes a hell of a lot of us who are not keen to mix it with the great white biteys in their own back yard!
  8. WOW, bl**dy WOW JW!! Stunning photography mate, you certainly show the rest of us how its done mate B)B)B) Magazine editors would give big bucks for pics of that quality  I enjoyed your post as well as it brought back memories of the years I lived in Scotland and a guy called John Reid who wrote and illustrated, a book called Clyde Style Flies which was dedicated to tying exact representations of flies on tiny hooks like yours with feathers like the throat hackle of a Starling, wing slips from Blackbirds, all feathers easily obtainable in Aus ;) There are some copies of his book on the web if you're interested enough to follow upOnce again, great report, it brightened my day ;)

  9. All good mate and you're spot on with the redfin ;) And, seriously, I have no problem with any one at all who thinks and caresas passionately as you do about any issue under the sun!If only we could get some more of the debaters on here to attack the issuesand NOT the personality's we would have an awful lot less work for you with the red penas well ;)

  10. OK, I see where confusion may arise Ranger.I am not a member of the Champions Group!I am the elected SPOKESPERSON, for SAFWAA, representing it's views, (with discussion and approval of my SAFWAA Committee) on the SARFAC voting Board.ANY other Communication, comment, opinion made on this Forum is not backed by either SARFAC, SAFWAA nor any other organisation. I repeat, so as to avoid any more confusion and digs by various disgruntled parties on this free and open Forum, that I am my own man with my own opinions.Hope this helps to level the playing field a bit in the future ;)

  11. Thanks Tony!
Also the rec Fishing Champions Group FYI are -Shane Murton Wildcoast Fishing SAShane Mensforth SA AnglerJon Huie Fishing writerGreg Irving Fishing writerGreg James ABC 891 fishing contactJohn Cockshell Riverland contactMark Mills Tackle-shop employee On line fishing writer' date=' Wildcoast writerNigel Hunt JournalistTrevor Watts SARFAC[/quote']Can I reiterate, as no mention is made in the above, that you represent the view of SAFWAA members, not of views expressed on this website or our membership here?
Sorry if I didn't clarify your last point Ranger.EVERY single opinion which I have ever expressed on this site has been entirely my own!EXCEPT: when I have asked a question for and on behalf of SAFWAA, as its elected President and have signed the fact at the bottom of the relevant post.A classic example of this was when I asked if SAFWAA could hold a Fly Fishing Tuition Event at Old Noarlunga as has already been picked up a few pages back on this thread.Hope this helps mate.
  12. Thanks Tony!Let me get my feeble head around this!So this is the recently formed "champions" group of which you speak. You represent the views of SAFWAA members only' date=' along with many other local groups and local respected fishing identities, as a workshop to help establish an overall picture as to the perspectives of the angling community?I also believe none of this "champions" group are SARFAC delegates. Please fill me in on anything I may have overlooked or misunderstood. You know I am but a simple lad! ;) Lastly, how do we find discussion papers relating to group meeting, and updates on upcoming topics for discussion?ps: do not let reams of detailed information, facts and figures overwhelm you! I too have plenty of piles and files here (maybe we can exchange like penpals) which had similar effect on me. When required it's nice to know it's handy, and you can quickly start to organise it all to sort the useful snippets from all the lawyer speak and drivel!Of course I'm still dead against your own ideal of RFL's but you already knew that, and that hardly seems reason to make anemones, anenomes, aminemon, emine......bad blood between us! ;)[/quote']We will always agree to disagree on RFL's and that is exactly as it should be. B) What good is a forum with out different opinions? The glory of a good discussion is what drives us sad li'l homo sapiens ;)PM me your email and I'll trip you out on information overload
