  1. Luv to know how you went with Inchequin Roger, Cheers.
  2. Yep Cal, a private dam over Kuitpo way which I fished for a couple of years and lost count of the big catches I took out from it, most prolific spot I've ever fished. You'd get a couple of dozen in a session and back a couple of weeks later and do the same again, amazing spot. Unfortunately a Politician has taken it over and is going to start a trout farm there can you believe! Ah well, can't complain, must of imbibed a few gallons of omega3 fish oil over the time I was there! The previous occupier showed me a pic of a 9 1/2lb Callop he took out of it and I've had 'Bows to 3lb as well! Cheers
  3. Hey zim man, 2 inch Atomic Pearl Shad and River to Sea yabby's. Got a whole new bag of favourites nowadays. Weird how we all move on from the "Deadliest Lure in the Box" syndrome :icon_exclaim:
  4. You've got that right OSD, me mouths watering just looking at 'em :icon_e_biggrin:
  5. You'd smack the kids hands if they didn't keep still for their picture wouldn't you?
  6. well, I don't care, it's called a brag board after all :
  7. All on the same lure in 30 minutes from a small SAFWAA pond just on dusk.36cms, 38cms and 42cms
  8. Hey, Swamp, your fish makes mine look kinda plain, must be a sex difference, wonder which is which? I suppose if it was a cow fish we should look for it's udder :icon_e_geek: :icon_e_wink:
  9. Anybody know what this little bloke's called? Caught off Seacliffe on cockle, it has a bony skeleton which completely encases its body apart from where its tail section comes out. tonyb
  10. Hey guys, me mate, posing with me cuttlefish, thinks he's a film star, 8) just about bought up every copy of "Wildcoast" magazine as the pic I sent in to the Brag Board section won a "Hellfish" tee shirt. We're taking turns wearing it so as we don't fall out :icon_lol: Cheers, Tony.
  11. Hey Roger, could you help me to track down some of those barbell style weights on your flies. Adelaide seems desperately short on fly tying materials and I'd luv to find a good source. Cheers, Tony.
  12. Hey Micky, no mention of any controls except major Carp kills for the Cray fishers pot bait. All of their work is data collection. Apparently some clever guy worked out that Carp jump. So they built fish traps which allowed natives under but the Carp had to jump. We were in awe of the height they could jump, 2 to 3 metres on the video he showed :o a slide took them off to holding crates which are lifted out of the water by winch loaded onto freezer trucks and sent off to the cray fishers. The annual catch is in hudreds of tonnes :icon_e_surprised: Did you have a specific reason for asking abo
  13. Hey Crocka, that reserve at Hallett Cove is called Lucretia. I've taken my grandson there for Carp, there are some Thumpers in there but plagued with what I think are stunted carp, all in that 1/2 to 3/4 lb class. There was an old fella from Adelaide who new someone with a bakery and when he visited his daughter in Hallett he would feed the Carp with the stale bread, some sight, the water would literally boil on the rare occasions when I witnessed the frenzy. I caught a genuine goldfish about a pound weight there with the most magnificent trailing tail and fins, bright orange and in lovely cond
  14. Good work Roger, your straw flies remind me when it was legal to troll along Port Noarlunga reef for salmon. We used blue plastic tubes about the same length as yours which bubbled and were lethal on those salmon. I started off with 3 lures in tandem, but after a triple hook up with two lures snapped off and a 3lb salmon on the remaining hook, I soon reverted to one. Had a boat trip down to the windmills at Cape Jervis recently and saw guys catching Salmon so found an old blue tube and yes, it's still as effective today.Just on catching Reddies in the Murray, I suspect those halcyon days of bi
  15. Hey Micky, top link mate,I always tied and used chenille bodied flies like those for many years and have a soft spot for them. I caught my PB trout in the UK on a white chenille body, white marabou tailed streamer style fly with tap/plug chain(two links) for weight at the head. I've just cobbled together a redfin imitator with an olive chenille body with a gold rib, red wool tail and red wool tags up the body to simulate red fins. Tap chain at the head, still got to get it wet yet.I'll try to get a pic if I can work out how to do it. (I've got the Photobucket website from here) Looks as if I'l
  16. Hey Dave, excuse my ignorance but I've never heard of "breaths" or crazy charlies maybe cos I'm a bit one eyed with SP's, got any pics? I've got a few of Joes patterns but not that yellow shrimp, I'll hit him up for some next time I see him.I have got some of his bead head nymphs which I'll try to get wet soon. Mmmmm. Matukas, heard so much about them but never fished one or tied one either, seems like I've been missing out a bit on the action. Thanks for the input Dave. Cheers Tony.
  17. Hey Roger,It never ceases to amaze me the amount of top class knowledge there is on this site :icon_e_surprised:Your flies are the least likely ones I expected to see as I had been told by one of my peers that wooly buggers/worms were the go. I particularly like the look of the grey bodied pattern but I'm up for giving them all a try. Thanks for the info and great pics as well :icon_e_biggrin:Cheers, Tony.
  18. Hey, Freddyboy, thanks for the input, I showed these pics to an old Diving buddy of mine and he sent me some stunning underwater shots of Cuttles mating up your way. They look huge but that could be the magnification which occurs underwater. Still, if you're using snapper gear to haul em out Incidentally cuttle "candles",sliced and tip hooked over cockles seem to catch a lot bigger class of KGW's down at our end of the gulf than just cockles. Cheers, Tony.
  19. Hey guys, anybody out there caught Redfin on flies? I'm looking for specific patterns initially which I can tie, which catch Reddies.I'd also like some ideas :icon_idea: for techniques for use with weighted flies to use with my 2-4kg spin outfit. :icon_e_biggrin: Cheers, Tony.
  20. G'day Highfly, stunning fish and a brilliant acheivment to land it as well. I always wondered if you cast the Flies or simply trolled them?Cheers Tony.
  21. Hey Swamp,I'm a newby like you, but I luv the input I'm gettin back from you guys. I thought that Gar was a one off(the other guys on Penneshaw Jetty were just as amazed as me). How long was your metal jig? and was it fairly hooked in it's mouth? What length are your gulps?Cheers, Tony.
  22. Hey Pretz, try buying a couple of tubs of maggots and trickle a few in every day for a week to the deepest holes in the creek. One of the oldest tricks in the book is to tie a dead chook, rabbit whatever over a fishy spot and the blow fly maggots keep falling off into the water. Gourmet dining for any fish.Go down with a tiny stick float and a bunch of maggots on a size 8 chemically sharpened hook (Owner" and "Gamakatsu" are among the best) and work all corners of the pools out not forgetting to trickle more maggots while you're Fishing. My bet is that the first fish of any species you catch wil
  23. It'd be awesome fun hooking that monster and even better with a few hot chips around it for dinner!
  24. Hey Guys, check this Cuttle out. Caught off Seaford on a barbed hook style squid jag baited with squid legs.weighed, after it had emptied itself of water and ink, it came in at exactly 5kgs! The drink bottle next to it is the 2 litre size :o http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/o1VKDDcp__C2.gif[/img] http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/QdbVCfoo__C1.gif[/img] http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/twjc3Wgv__C4.gif[/img]
