  3. hi, i,ve fished a lot of the island and there are plenty of fishing options for you. one great tip i'll give you for vivonne bay jetty is to fish just before the dingy crane on the left hand side of the jetty. if you fish this spot you might be able to see salmon schools, which may be around. the salmon are very predictable off this jetty. they travel along the reefy shore line, they come within about three metres of the jetty and then do a big horse shoe shape around the jetty and travel along the reef on the other side. vivonne bay some times have massive mullet and sand whiting. happy fis
  4. i like it . you could start up a live bait shop on the lake ;D kidding
  5. threading the hook onto the plastic: the plastic needs to be threaded as straight as possible, so that it swims properly. so lay the hook on top of the plastic, find where the hook should come out to make it stright and not scrunched up (usually i count the fin knotches if i'm using wrigglers).if seen people fish plastics a few different ways and it varries a little for different types of fish. when fishing for bream i usually let the lure sink to the bottom pause for a second or two, then lift the rod smoothly and give it a few winds. i can usually tell if a fish bites on the pause because i

  7. yep mullies. was looking for a good spot to sit in the yak. i know the lake is only narrow, but i rekon my chances might improve from the jak. easier to float a bait aswell.
  8. cal, i was told it was somewhere in between the causway (g j road) and the point of delfin island. it is a big area to search for a stack of shopping trollies.
  9. hi, does someone know the line of sight references to find the shopping trolley reef in westlakes. (the one near delfin island).cheers.lcp.s if it,s a bit of a secret and you don't want to tell the whole of adelaide, just pm me. no wild goose chases please.
  10. i f*%^&$@ hate it when i see d^$@*^&$@ kill ray's or even cut off their tails just because they think they're menice or some kind of dangerous beastie. i always release ray's and sharks because i believe they are a slow growing, slow breeding fish. don't get me wrong, most of my fishing is done catching sharks and ray's etc. i don't have any problem with catching for food, but to kill these fish for fun you must be screwed in the head with no respect for the ocean. cheers. lc
  11. i'd prefer to use fish for bait from another country than to support the rape of mine!! :icon_e_biggrin:
  12. i'll have to give them a shot now that i know they work. i tried those indonesian pilchards on friday night, they were alittle dry and wrinkly but dad and I caught 2 nice snapper and a big schoolie on them. so they work as well. :icon_e_biggrin: :icon_e_biggrin:

  19. i'm not angry with tackle stores passing the buck. but it really pisses me off when you see a resourse decine like they have. i remember as a kid going down to the mouth every year with dad and we would catch a bag of cockles within a few mins. i also remember when the pro's started to harvest them for the asian market. oh well i geuss it's like every other resource that gets raped.COCKLES ARE FISH FOOD NOT PEOPLE FOOD. {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif

  23. if you have no luck catching live bait in westlakes you could try one of the local boat ramps. west beach boat ramp usually has some mullet and plenty of trumpeters. i have had good success with dead bait there too. i usually go down to the fish factory and get a kg of bottle squid.good luck. 24. One of ms Lc's and my latest and one of our best fishing experiences would have been of kingscote jetty. we had a cracker of a day and night. we started of at about mid day. we cought 60 tommies, 4 squid & 13ish gar we shared them with some of the local friends on the jetty. i took the rest of the catch back home and was back to the jetty by 7.30pm. it was now time to start chasing whiting shark and snapper. the fish were being predictable, every day at sunset a big school of small ruggers would come by, then when it was dark the big k.i whiting, snook and sharks would come on the bite. as
