  1. Oh wow, seems my phone was still logged into my old account.. Thanks guys, I'll sick to west lakes for my first outtake and then I'll consider my options
  2. I'm calling it as a small drummer...http://www.whatfish.com.au/drummer.htm
  3. I have been stabbed by hooks and squid jags countless times, but thankfully not to the point where they became so far embedded in my hands I couldn't remove them! Was removing a squid who had managed to get himself well and truly hooked for my mate at Tuton on Tuesday and just as i got it off, he moved the rod, BAM straight into my finger... dripped blood for a minute or two but kept fishing...However probably my worst injury, also happened on Tuesday in the afternoon, we took out the tinny, and had been fishing for about an hour, when my friend decided he needed to pee and it was too hot, s
  4. Absolutely smashed the Squid with it the last few days at Turton, nearly bagged out in a couple hours, and a few were real fat :c s aswell!
  5. So I ended up with the Shimano Aernos 2500 SP which seems like a nice smooth reel, and comes with a handy 10 year warranty.I also coupled it with a rod I found in Big W. Sounds dodgy, but its actually a really nice 6,6" graphite Shimano ET special edition. Only 2-4kg, but the base is really strong and sturdy with a nice flexy end. It's also got the cork grips, so its incredibly lightweight.Spent $100 all up, quite pleased with the result :woohoo:
  6. Holy shit, it really is a small world! Cheers mate, PM sent!
  7. Had 2 more pictures but something weird happened with the camera...1st, Jarvis Spinfire 45002nd shimano reel.
  8. So I recently quit my part-time job to focus on Year 12go fishing more.I don't have much money since I have to pay for my own car, but I have about 50-70 bucks from Easter, and I'm putting it towards a new and rod and reel, which im hoping to use for whiting, off of the jetty, and occasionally off the rocks...I've had a look in Ray's and found a Jarvis Walker Spin Royale rod, which was 6,6" 3-5kg and wasn't to flimsy, but still had enough flex that it wasn't like a brittle stick... Also came with a Jarvis Spinfire 4500 reel... $45 combo deal. I've heard mixed reports about Jarvis, so I thought
  9. Fishie, it's my understanding that Lead is very rarely found in its pure form - as with most metals. Generally it reacts with other materials in the ground or atmosphere and is mined as ore such as Lead Oxide. While this is normally safe, the ore is then refined into pure Lead and melted into sinkers.I do know that as humans we can suffer from Lead poisoning if we get too much in our system, -although I can't really see how having little lead sinkers sitting on the ocean floor is environmentally damaging, I would of thought that the Lead would have just reacted with its environment again. The
  10. I saw this thread and got very excited... then I realised it was on sunday for one day only, and I'm going on a trip down to Point Turton, on the monday :vomit: Perfect opportunity to hopefully grab a nice fish down on the Yorkes, and its one day off :c
  11. Cheers smokey, I'll definately check it out on tuesday when the shops reopen. Just the right sort of weight I wanted aswell, so sounds good!
  12. Yeah I always use swivels, when I'm feeling particularly lazy, the snap swivels sure do make for easy rig changing...Thanks for the tip Ranger, I normally do that anyway, but a reminder never hurts
  13. Hi all,I will be heading up to Point Turton in a few weeks for 3 days, and I need to replace the line on a light-medium 6,6" rod. I will be primarily using this rod from the jetty to target Whiting or mullet, and at other times Bream, (not at Turton obviously)I don't know if lately I've just been very unlucky, but I've spent more time undoing tangles than fishing, so I was wondering if there is a particular type of line that is very good for not getting kinks and tangles in it, or whether I just stick to plain old mono?
  14. I'm in, my team is called the Devils Donkeys, because I usually pick a bunch of absolute donkeys!
  15. Are there any spots still availible? I normally do absolute rubbish at this but still give it a shot!
