  1. Duel Adagio Lures is what I have been using at the moment over here on the west coast at beaches like sheringa and locks well and have been working sooooo well!!!125mm with 2 single hooks on seems to get a better hook-up. The fish are smashing the lure and need pliers to get them out. Also found the 85mm with a couple of trebles hanging off them work great on the smaller salmon trout and tommies. Which when I catch them put a big hook through them and them cast them back out to swim live and pretty quickly that turns into a 4kg+ salmon.Raiders are always in my tackle box too. I just change over the split rings as soon as I get the lures to something a bit stronger.Lines tight!

  4. We went on search for the australian salmon yesterday too, had a mate from tumby bay come across to locks well for an early morning fish which turned into lunch time.3 of us fishing got only 4 salmon each with the biggest going about 2kg or 63cm on the brag matmaybe the mystery length! After reports of schools of salmon there all weekend thought we might be lucky enough to have one or two in close while we were there, but they were always way out of casting distance but there was alot of fish in the out there.Lures seemed to be the go yesterday! Loving the red and white raiders!Lines tight!

  5. Howdy All,What kind and size of fish do you rate to be part of the illusive club?1 metre+ barraBillfish (of any kind and decent size)30kg GT60lb Mulloway60cm King George whiting (well maybe 50cm) My PB is 49.5cm1 metre+ Black Jewfish15lb Australian Salmon?Anything else you think I've forgotten and you think these measurements are ok or too steep?Only ticked off one of those.... well sort of the sailfish I caught wasn't really that big!Lines Tight!

  6. Well fishing in venus was pretty mellow over the weekend due to the tragedy that happened but still got out on the boat sunday afternoon. My goodness there is HEAPS of trevally in the bay! Got about 40 on the boat within an hour but as soon as you got to the bottom the KG's where around.Moved spots after having heaps of fun on the trev's gees they put up a good fight on light gear and fairly decent size too. Yummy smoked fish for tea last night.Headed out to the bay across from the entrance. The swell had dropped HEAPS but the current has still racing and snuck into the corner in about 4 foot of water and got some donkey whiting. no need to measure but caught one that looked way smaller than the rest and it was 35cm! 5 squid to top the day off and on the way home trolled passed the reef and pulled in a couple of 2kg + salmonPlenty of tinnies getting around there at the moment and all getting a feed of whiting but not to many bagging out.The jetty has a good supply of trevally and tommies if you can get through the shitties plus the odd big snook sniffing around too!oh and also reports of tuna busting up out to sea. I don't know where but saw the tuna and the 6 they kept woulda weighed between 15-20kglines tight!

  7. I will feel a bit bad going out on the water today fishing, so just heading off the jettyHelicopter is back and loads of baots out still looking for the 3rd person.I'm good mates with the guy that swam back to shore and it's a good effort swimming in the conditions we had here yesterday. They shouldn't of been anywhere near the entrance yesterday! but inside the bay woulda been fine.So sad for all the families and friends involved

  8. Just want your opinion on which magazine you think is better? You probably buy both of them but surely you've got a favourite?Wild Coast magorSA Angler??I met shane from SA Angler last night at a salmon comp meeting I attend and told him I only buy the other one. so he gave me a free copy and It does give alot of good information on specific places- Actually he is going to write on up on the little town where I live called Elliston for the next issue and I might even get to go fishing with the champ. So now my magazine pile is going to double as I but Wild Coast, Western Angler and now the SA AnglerLines tight!

  9. Howdy Mancini,Inside the bay at venus is a big sand bar that is out of the water at low tide but at high tide place some crab nets out there for some nice sand crabs. You need a few of them for a feed but they are oh so good! The only other things to worry out in the bay is the reef. which is clearly marked and stands out like dogs balls so you don't hit it.If head out the entrance it can get a bit hairy getting out if the swells up but once out the back shouldn't be too bad. Just watch out for the swell. Not to sure if there is many tuna running this way at the moment but always worth a troll. The main catches out the back are snapper and nannigai. Only been out there a couple of time so don't really know many spots. But inside the bay numerous amounts of KG whiting, tommies, trevally, salmon trout, snook, flathead and squid.I really love venus bay so peaceful and relaxing. If you want some more advice ask at the general store, caravan park or head over to thr port kenny pub and try and meet some locals.Hope you ebjoy your stayLines tightDyl

  10. Venus Bay- What a GREAT spot to fish!Well explained wadey on explaining the place! That's where I'ld be and am going fishing all the time.Have my parents in law live there and am always out on the boat and off the jetty! At the momenet there is HEAPS and HEAPS of little tinnies getting out there first thing in the morning and most of them are getting their quota of nice size KG's. But when the tide stops head over to the reef and try for some squid! If you ever see the pillie boat unloading get your :c to the jetty!!!! and hook up on as many tommies and trevally you want! Also keep you eyes peeled for the BIG salmon swimming around. pulled many over 4kg up that jetty. And snook! the size of baseball bat's.It is such beautiful spot and the fishin is really easy and safe(within the bay)Try the Mt Camel for a nice afternoon surf fishing mission can be HOT there at times!I live in Elliston and try to get to venus bay every couple of weeks!Enjoy that beautiful place.Lines tight!

  11. HOwdy Nanman,I actually live in elliston. The pilchards boatds are not allowed to give you pilchards off the boat for some fishiers reason but the :spillage" on the jetty is amazing. Got myself about 20kg worth of pillies.Saving ALOT of $$$ on buying bait when from the local shop is $10 for 2kg.RIGHTO off the buy me some pool salt! Thanks to everyone on this site it is the best fishing advice site ever and when you love your fishin as much as me it's a great help!ow that the swell and wind has died down, off to see if I can get a couple of sambo's today!Lines Tight!
