The rod I have is bang on 2.5metres so I figured to small for the 220 ?

@ Cal , thanks very much for that link man ......iv done the measurements and from what I can tell its one of the 196-8 sabresProbably my new favorite rod, got a fkn wicked feel to it , fast tip, beefy at base.. Cant wait to Salmon season.

its a black blank with red bindings....doesn't look too recent.

I have had more luck in the onk than in west lakes for mulloway....although there are some very very nice fish in westlakes.You need a lot of time for mulloway in general....its a real waiting game iv learnt.Fresh as fk or livebait for the onk....id only use livebait in westlakes .The rest is trial and error and try to work out patterns.....I too spend shit loads on fuel ...its the chase that keep us going.Soft plastics can be productive in the onk also, never tried in lakes.

Bought a 2nd hand sabre spin rod today that I thought would be awesome for flicking slugs in the winter, the shop owner didn't know what blank it was but guessed it to be a eg270 ....its about 9ft single piece and guessing 6-8kg ? it only has the sabre logo on the blank no mention of rating or anything.Anyone know if the eg270 Came in spin at around 9ft ? or any other ideas what it might be ?cheers,

the clicker in my older usa model spinfishers are not as load and clear as the used to be , anyone know how to get them sounding sweet again ?do I need to replace clicker ?

yes guys...check out the penn squall series of reel I have just got one, totally different story.....way way way better quality (not a solid metal reel but still well made) same base manufacture process as the international apparently. has a few annoying plastic parts but on the whole solid. and not too expensive 180 bucks shipped form usa. check them out, well done penn, you have seen the light again.
