last time i was there the back waters were too deep for backs exposed and too dirty to polaroid, mind you it was only knee deep and a 6kilo carp would just vanish in noon day sun... crazy. so we shot them with compound bows instead lol

lol nick...never see bruces, but i did ask him how he did his jags on the side, and he said to turn the nose up, i tried getting the jags out of a set and couldnt do it, so i bought yozuris and melted them out so they are alot lighter than most, the rest of the fly just go tied... so its a 'variation'but yeah simialr to bruces, basicly a clouser with jags:laugh:

nice outfit, i also have the glx cc in 9wt its a great rod.the stream dance glx is what i use for bream and trout in a 5# and funny enough in the wind with a sharkskin it throws a line better than any of my rods.just a pitty about the expiditer warranty though.however i get mine from the states and i just send it back to the shop and its the same as it used to be in oz before shimano stuffed them up.

Ok, so I decided to test the patterns out and they went well. The trout which normally race over then stop short and scrutinise the fly then take now just very casually came over and sipped them up like a natural, so yes they work!! Success.However the small black and grizzly ones which did catch fish all put massive twisting tangles in the leader for some reason and the others even the cool one with the big tail and antennas did not. Maybe the fine hackle makes it propeller through the air?The fist fish photo was caught on the cool one.

hey all, just a quick one.decided to tie some super light flies for my super light 0# rod im getting soon, these are a few i made on size 20# hooks, see the match head for comparison.it was .... interesting, but once i tied a few, they are easy as, maybe 2 minutes each. will have to see if fish eat them next lol

lol darren. the camera does come off you know lol, yeah you look like a bit of a twat wearing it but does good footage.oh yeah there were only the 3 king vids i tried to make a trout one but as they were so far and few between i missed them on camera. next time though. i am knocing up a local one sometime this week. see how it goes

Well, time for a late report.Been slack since i came back from NZ xmas with the family, i mean fishing with 1 day off for xmas with the family lolWas a little slow this time but the story goes as follows.Day1 was rough as guts and we decided to do a close to home trip for some small kings. hey all, just thought id share a few flies ive been knocking up today for my NZ trip next week.1st one is my salmon candy. its only 6cm long so should match the bait quite nicley.2 - 3 - 4 are of my polarfiber take on Fishuts squid pattern that weve been using for the snapper. on this ive tied in 3 layers of polarfiber, white then a thouch of orange then white over again to give it a bit of glow.enjoy

hey rick, we were fishing with sinking fly lines and quite deep th fly is unweighted, otherwise i might have another fly stuck in my hat 'Darren;) ' cst half the line out accross the current and let it swing and sink and also let more line out as it went. once at the estimated desired depth we would retrieve the line by hand with short erratic tugs to emulate a squid doing squidly things. you feel a bit of weight and you set the hook. whamo,, snapper on fly. easy in text form lolURHF dude i watch some SD vids i have made filmed in hd but downscaled so i can use some SD underwater clips too and

finally figured out how to embed.@urhf. depends, most are hd these days, you just have to decide on how you want to store the footage, ie. avchd or sd card, internal, dv tape.. the list goes on, all have pros and cons.im getting a gopro hd hat cam shortly, films in 1080p and is slightly bigger than a pack of matches. their like 360$. cheapest hd camera around for sure.
