  3. So its Friday morning and my RDO.We've had a cool change and the heat returns Saturday for at least the next week temps up to 37 c.Anyway I headed back to West lakes and the same area I fished last week. With the sun not being fully up I was a bit hesitant as the Bream like to sit in the sun .BUT I could see fish moving in ankle deep water. And I went in for the kill being the predator I am lol.Anyway all this resulted in was schools of scared fish. They weren't Bream perhaps mullet or Whiting .So I continued on for a few more casts and nothing.Deciding to head to the next beach with a northish w

  7. The drought Breaks JustWell as I had only a short time to fish this morning I headed to the same end of the lake. But I headed to the Sea side of the lake .And what a mistake that was that awful Weed was still clogging large areas .So I headed to the side I fished yesterday .Nothing much was happening I had about four rises four tiny tiny Bream to my Green popper.I left the water and headed to the tiny little spot that gave me so much action in about 10 minutes yesterday.A couple of tiny Bream rose to the Green popper and that was that.As I had walked to yesterdays hot spot I spied some very la

snapperhead wrote: Hi Snapps I'm just on a Craze at the moment and the rush from a jumping fish .Yep you could / should pick up a fish with a more tradional Fly .Not sure about the big ones 40 to 50 cm in the ankle deep water I was trying for.Damn wind Hence the tiny surface flies guys Just be aware that the fish didnt seem to "wake up" until the sun was all over the water.Pre to that they weren't interested and by low time they'd gone to sleep again.BUT today I only fished one side of the lake normally I walk the two .And they were certainly hitting the surface but only the littleuns.Keep

Well I hit the lake again this morning with high hopes .Deciding it was time to return to my favourite style of SWFF in my shorts and old sand shoes I left the pvc waders at home(last weeks sauna on feet was not fun).So in to some cold water I went .Where were the fish I could see them early but they were now!!Deciding to head to the next beach I walked up the foot path and saw them sitting in the sun. With the wind coming from the wrong direction I needed to walk past the fish and cast at them. With a few more casts with no interest in my White and Orange popper fly I changed over to a Barbie p
  13. I went hoping to have another crack today .But overcast cold and a wind blowing in my face I decided to fight another day.Don't get me wrong I'll fish in almost gale force winds,if they can be at my back or over the shoulder .But the most important thing is the temperature and Sun neither of which were around .CheersPerhaps a twilight fish during the week
  14. grubb wrote: Was just watching the weather Thursday is supposed to be 29 perhaps that's a good night. Not sure if they are swarming but I had a few land on me and under the old hat .Plus the smallish to tiny Bream were feeding on both the surface and bottom.Surface they stopped for me just before 10am .But for me the lack of fish out past the Weed beds the bigger ones still must be sleeping
  15. brenton wrote: Actually that was my best day seeing Bream in months .But they were long stretches apart.Plus I did get excited seeing a school of Mullet (or whatever) kind of sensed or hoped something bigger was around .Pitty about the Port next low tide if I'm around might just flick there first Biggest concern was the snot weed stuff seemed to be still very thick Sea side of the lake .I should have taken a pic it seemed to be killing the sea grass.
  16. Its been awhile guys .So after heading down to West lakes last Monday after work for a horror time .I headed down to the Lake this morning. Not expecting much but hoping that the fish had awoken from their sleep or breeding cycle. Was greeted by about 20 teenage girls in Skull boats all over the Bower Rd end of the lake( a distraction). So what to do I after rigging up and donning my Waders I walked across the road. And went straight in the Port River .Tied was way in and nothing was happening .I walked almost right up to the Lakes gate and was casting .When suddenly out of no where a dolphin pod
