  1. Howdy everyone, as a few of you might remember I was heading up to Darwin for a few weeks..(5 months ago) I forgot to put up the pics of that trip. I went on a Charter out to one of the Billabongs and we landed 5 Barra I got two, only at about 55cm which is just legal, (both released) But it was my land based trip that yeilded my most interesting fish which was a GT of about 50cm, I can honestly say it was the hardest fighting fish I've ever landed, I thought I had a big Queenie or Barra.. And also a few days later I managed a 60cm Barra that put on a spectacular show when he smashed the lure
  2. Hey mate, With Flyfishing you will need a proper fly rod designed to cast flyline, you will need a fly reel and also some flyline to get started. When getting started in flyfishing it can be quite daunting but don't let that put you off, flyfishing is a really fun and rewarding way to fish, and you can target anything on it. I take my flyrod with me whenever I go fishing. If you need any help with getting started feel free to chuck me a PM.Cheers RF.
  3. Thanks for the info guys, I'll definately take a look at the Loomis and T curves. T curve sounds like a very good option as I will be using it here aswell on some of the big species we have. Thanks guys.
  4. Hi guys,Haven't been on lately and to be honest I haven't been fishing lately! But now i'm getting back into it and soon i'll be heading up north. It'll be shorebased chasing Barra, Trevally and anything else that decides to grab ahold of my lure. I recently picked up a Stradic CI4 4000 and now i'm looking to match it up with a rod, anyone have any suggestions as to what rod to match it up with and what line? Cheers guys.
  5. Really appreciate the offer Weaver, Sorry though mate I can't afford to get myself a new Combo for a few weeks if not months until I get a few things paid off . It's a real bargain though and whoever buys it won't be dissapointed.
  6. Thanks for the tips guys, I now have a good idea of what rod and reel I will look into getting for what will hopefully be a productive winter of Mulloway fishing.
  7. G'day Guys,I am looking at getting into some some serious Mulloway fishing over winter and I need some help as to what gear should I use? I'm looking at about a $200-300 price range. I need to find out what weight rod, reel size and also lines that will be required. I'll be chasing them out of my kayak in the metro areas. I'll probably be chasing other species with this combo Snapper, Callop, Cod and anything else that is willing to grab a lure. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  8. Allright, I would keep it in a plastic container whilst out in the yak but other than that you should have alot of enjoyment with it.
  9. Pentax make pretty good camera's, The photo's on that one turned out pretty good mate tbeyre nice and clear. Is it waterproof?
  10. I'd say theyre feeding on the Salmon Trout that are in the area at the moment?
  11. Ive got the 1000 size Symetre and love it, Ive caught some really nice fish on it. As UHF said it's smooth and you can't go wrong with it. This reel is my ultralight reel though, spooled up with 2Ib line on a 1-3KG rod. I would reccomend a 2500 size reel as that can cover a much broader range of uses, You can spool that up with heavier line and use it on a heavier rod.
  12. That place looks amazing! :woohoo: It's huge. Good pics Scottie :)Would love to go there some day and have a crack at some of the lakes they have over their.
  13. They could be a school of Longtail Tuna but I don't know what they would be doing so far south, I have heard reports of Longtail in SA before but it is very rare.
