  1. Flathead on lures/soft plastics. Nothing better than wading in knee deep water on a nice warm day flicking a minnow and suddenly feeling that hit as you skip it across the bottom.

and the taste of flathead makes it worth the effort as flathead fillets are quite pricey at the seafood stores at the moment 38.00 dollars a kg last time i saw
  2. sounds nice jewie do mine a bit simaler but leave out the spices what i do is blanch your fresh squid tube in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes then slice into rings fill a jar with white vinegar put your squid rings in then add a 2 to 3 tablespoons of minced garlic a tablespoon of white sugar for a bit of sweetness 1 fresh chopped chilli half a fresh lemon squeezed and some black cracked pepper fresh from the grinder all straight into the jar of vinegar and let marinate for 4 to 5 days

  3. another great place for snook is the old rapid bay jetty but you will have to jump the gate if your going to do this only do it while the sun is shinning cause there are gaps in the old jetty dont want you to fall through or the new one the reason they closed the old one was for small structal damage that could have been easily replaced instead of building a new one probaly would have been cheaper too

  4. last time i was at semaphore jetty about 3 years ago i had a crack at yelowfin whiting i was just near the end of the jetty and casting off the lefthand side towards a small seaweed patch on the bottom i was using a two piece rod with that red line that apparently fish cant see and caught a 41cm YFW using cockles as bait it shocked me a bit seeing it was off my first cast that day and the bait i was using not only that but i find at semaphore they tend to stick to the shallower end

  5. hi guys just wondering if wallaroo jetty has been reopened yet as me and my mate want to go crabbing later this year we had planned just to go to ardrossan but did some research and found out there is a temporary crabbing reduction in the st vincent gulf which only allows 20 crabs per person instead of the normal 40 twenty is a fair amount for one person but were going for the family as well so it,s reopened could you please let me know cheers netman.

  6. never been to the tropics but have watched a few fishing shows that were targeting species up that way if your just going land based i would just keep it light but if going on boat throw in a decent rod nice sized spanish mackrel up that way but you will only get them on a boat as for land based you will have nannagai red emporer coral trout mangrove jack mud crabs etc able to be caught also try some of the freshwater creeks in the rainforest which are up that way for jungle perch

  7. if your game enough try tying your berley pot onto a rock with some crabbing rope string about 60 meters lentgh as the tides going out remember and wade out and place your berley pot while the tide is in before you start your fishing mind you the rock has to be a fair size and carryable

  8. hows it going guys my father used to take me crabbing when i was younger back in the late 80,s early 90,s raking trying to remember this spot after port aurthur and just before pt clinton on the way to ardrossan all i remember when i was ten was it,s just before pt clinton you go through a field to where the mangroves are and you walk through them and when you reach the water there,sd a small channel where you can do some raking for crabs but that,s not why i want to find this spot again cause when i was there i actually stepped on a razorfish with no shoes on most painful expereince of my life felt like someone cutting into my foot with a chainsaw anyway back then then was heaps of razorfish in this spot and a mate of mine told me pickled razorfish hearts are pretty good eating so if anyone knows where this spot im talking about is could you please leave a hint to where about it is cause i have forgotten cheers netman.

  9. hi guys went to wallaroo a few years back and was at the end of the jetty only been there the one time and did,nt get many keepers from the end of the jetty plan on going there this year but have heard the end part is closed just wanting to know if you get many crabs at the start of the jetty where i was checking out the weedline on the lefthand side.

  10. last time i saw something like that happen with a boat i was crabbing at semaphore jetty some idiot pulled within 5 meters of the jetty in a 6 meter boat and nearly bogged himself on sandbar he left quick smart as soon as everyone on the jetty started using there cockles on them
