  1. This is a bloody wicked idea. Count me in 100%
  2. You can use 37kg stand up, but you will be able to fight half as long as you could on 50lb tackle. This 10/0 I got has more drag than an International 50VS...My mate has two and we tied the lines together, he wound about 20 metres onto his inter and then we locked them up and pulled... he couldn't get an inch of line from me and i was just pumping and winding with realative ease while he was being thrown off balance. I guess it is a different story if you have a 14 foot white heading for the horizon like a bat out of hell....Oops! did I say white? I mean't bronzie....... {SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gi
  3. Well I know daiwa make some killer spinning reels and light rods etc... but I saw some daiwa overhead 24 - 37kg rollered rods the other day and wondered if they are as good as their spinning gear? I reckon the Sealine reels are pretty dodgy so it made me question their overhead rods. I mean, the rods look pretty bad ass but that doesn't always mean much. The rods I' am talking about are the Grand Wave, Ninja and Deep Zone rods...Any feedback would be great.
  4. I just doing some day dreaming and was imagining where my dream fishing spot would be? Then I thought, "I can't be the only fisho who does this?" So where would yours be?Mine:Fishing off the rocks for monster kingies, marlin, cobia, tuna and sharks at Jervis Bay. I can just imagine the dark cobalt blue waters at my feet and the smell of the Pacific ocean.ORFishing for colossal squids in the Antarctic?
  5. I have a new addition:A Penn senator 10/0 filled with around 1 km of 80 lb mono, on a 37 kg Melton Stand up custom rod. This is for anything bigger than your 'average 10ft bronzie'
  6. Those stingrays have alot of steam in them aye?
  7. Whats the longest time you have ever been hooked up to a fish? The longest I've heard about was some dude who faught a white pointer for 6 hours. Other than this it would be some mates who have been hooked to big stingrays for around 4 hours. My longest is about 45 mins.
  8. That sounds like a fair effort from brighton... I might have to give it a crack at those seven gills. The water lookks KILLER tonight I must say. I just got home from theb each then and caught a 10-13kg eagle ray. I reckon if I could get balloons off the beach it would be cracking. I'd say give brighton a shot. Semaphore is just s*** latley with doggies and crabs munching bottom baits. However two mates of mine cleaned up on 4foot + bronzies on friday night and saturday nights. So get in there
  9. So you guys get little sharks that actually peel line from your reels? I don't maybe cus I fish like 50lb for them. But ive seen them caught on 20lb and they don't fight either? p.s.Not saying Cal's shark is small {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  10. wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhats this I hear of an 18 footer sighted around Marino?
  11. Yeah, I thought you guys cleaned up on big bronzies back in then? Nowdays, there are some years that have produced heaps of little bronzies and ones that produce just 4 big ones or so. Who knows what this year will hold?
  12. This jetty sounds like the place for eagle rays! 14 in one session!?!? That is damn good. Those ones you are catching aren't small either addict. What line did you use for them. I still reckon I could catch 33 and not get bored of them.
  13. People seem to find stingrays as a bit of a pest, but I reckon they are good fun, esspecially Eagle Rays. For their size, an Eagle ray would easily fight harder than a big shark. Smooth rays and Black rays on the other hand don't really fight at all but still can give a bit of exitement if nothing else is biting. I just don't understand when people say "just cut it off". At least give it a shot...
  14. I have heard about carp being good too. I might have to go on a carp mission soon.
  15. hahahha, I still look under rocks for crabs while I'm waiting for a run!Sounds like fun there freddie, I also make motorbike sounds while I'm fishing.
  16. My first fishing memories are of fishing in the murry and seeing my dad catch a 15 cm carp about 9 years ago. I remember hooking my brother in law with a hook on my very first cast. It was overcast sky and quite humid. We fished in some strange little patch of water that came just off the river itself into a small pond filled with those pepper corn trees that drooped into the water. Quite strange.
  17. Just wondering what some of you guys have found the best shark baits to be? From the sounds of things alot of you have quite a few years of experience behind you and I figured you would have had one bait that you swear by etc...I myself go by snook tails, eagle ray chunks or a whole sea mullet under my balloons. In that order too {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif
  18. that is a priceless look on your face there fred
  19. extremeley well written there fred. you have discribed it so well I can almost smell the beach... or maybe thats just becuase i got home from the jetty and caught nothing...
  20. I bet his name would be something like Herman or Hans
