Liam_od 1
Hi Everyone, i have recently moved to mainland Adelaide and since being here have been somewhat dissapointed with the saltwater fly oppertunitys in conparison to my home of Kangaroo Island. This has lead to the decision to have an crack at the trout that live in the small streams throughout the hills, and i was just wondering if anyone had a few consistent trout flies of choice they wouldent mind reccomending? Thanks heaps guys, Liam. Meppstas
ChuckTseeker 425
I have always done best with small Black Nymphs. The Bead head Nymphs get you down, also had good luck with Fuzzy Wuzzy's too. You could also try an Egg pattern with a small size 14 Nymph on a trace tied to the Egg. If you want to try a dry the ol Red Tag is as good as any best of luck cheers Chuck Meppstas and scorpion
Meppstas 4,964
As chuck stated the red tag is a great all rounder for trout fishing, me being a spin fisher has even heard of that fly and how good it is.. Here's a list of the top 24 trout flies here in Tassie.. I'm sure there's a few that would do well in Sth Aust too.. The fly fishermen that I know down here always match the hatch ( caddis moths, beetles, duns, Spinners, hoppers etc) throughout the season... reckon that's the way to go in Sth Aust too.. cheers Adrian THE TASMANIAN FLY FISHING COLLECTION PUT TOGETHER BY MIKE TENNER PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITED TASMANIAN GUIDE 24 OF THE BEST PATTERNS TO ENABLE YOU TO FISH SUCCESSFULLY IN TASMANIA, In mixed hook sizes Highland Dun (sizes 12-14)Black Spinner (sizes 10-14)Red Spinner (sizes 10-14)Emergers (sizes 10-14)Olive Nymph (unweighted; sizes 12-14)Sloane style Fur Fly (sizes 8-10)black Woolly Bugger.
