bennyboy 0
i actually put his head on the ironing board and made a perfect iron-on transfer....i've got t-shirts aswell
Guest xtrafishyfish
Howdy Toby, we actualy didn't weigh them but probably up around 15 or so pound. If you're fishing the Ardro Barge PM me and I'll give you some pointers on how to fish the area {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif
Guest xtrafishyfish
Butters, good snapper drops don't come easy.. it's taken a lot of hard work over the years to work out their movements and even more work to keep the spots quiet. Too many people just head for the recognised grounds expecting to get fish when there is a big ocean out there full of fish if you make the effort {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif We did an allnighther last night locally and only managed one rugger... it can change from day to day {SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif
toby 0
i dont fish the ardrossan barges. they are to far out. why travel all that way when i can land 30 pounders 700m from shore. All of my patches are complimentary of my uncles who are professional fisherman.
Guest xtrafishyfish
That's great Toby, I know that area you're talking about ..... is that the area with the awesome dropoff as it runs out seaward from just offshore {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif The best snapper you can catch is the one in shallow water close to shore as the other boats drive past you heading off to spots on the horizon cya
bennyboy 0
Toby's old boy has a 15ft wooden boat with an old motor which you can prolly walk faster than.... still takes him an hour to get out a km though Having pro's as your uncle helps too
Guest xtrafishyfish
When I was a kid and we still fished for a living we had a 15 foot bondwood sheathed in canvas and sealed up, motor was 1 cylinder simplex and used a gallon of fuel for the whole day. It was very slow but at least you could fish for snook, salmon and snapper as you motored along with leaded snook lines out the back. I couldn't wait till I was old enough to "escape" and buy my own glass boat with a big mixmaster on the back
toby 0
the boats fibreglass and runs off of a 6.5 horsepower yanmar diesel. A good boat if you like a scenic drive and enjoy snooking on the way to all of your fishing spots. It gives you plenty of time to tie rigs.
bennyboy 0
i stand corrected {SMILIES_PATH}/shocked.gifops:
toby 0
hey ben i reckon the reason you dont catch that many fish is because you get to technical and you are actually to smart for the fish. what you need to do is work on the theory if they're hungry they'll bite. toby 0
Hey smiley. That dropoff ur talking about is off of Ardrossan right. I do all my fishing 40km south at a place called Port Julia.
Guest xtrafishyfish
Toby I've never fished Port Julia, only Ardro... the area I thought you meant was where the pros' used to run their snapper longlines out years ago on the dropoff that runs out from near the shore {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif
toby 0
hey smiley ive never fished ardrossan but i know they have a shiit load of snapper drops. we have a few where we fish but the water isnt as deep and we rely on artificial reefs and the occassional bit of broken bottom. toby 0
Hey smiley what size boat are you fishing in if you fish off of the ardrossan barges.
