red_devil94 4
Hey guys, I need to replace the line on one of my rods, I had a massive tangle last sesh, and cut about 75 metres off, and the stuff underneath was so old and frail I think my goldfish could of snapped it to be honest. It's only a light rod, pretty sensitive, would make a good garfish or tommy rod come to think of it.... Anyway the heaviest I'm ever going to get on it is a small salmontrout, or maybe a squid. Just want to know, whats the lightest/thinnest line you would go for? I'm hoping a good quality thin line might improve my luck?
Guest Brent61
braid or mono-filament ?braid i'd say 6-8lbmono 8-12lbbrentalso depends on where you are going to fish , as mono has better abrasive qualities and definately easier to untangle as well as being cheaper red_devil94
plankton 725
What's the rod rated for? What size reel are you using? Resolute
red_devil94 4
The rod is rated 2-4kg, as for the reel, I have no idea. Had it since I was little, probably something like my 8th Birthday present haha. I'll head down the shop later today, what's the go with all these new coloured lines I keep seeing? I would of thought a natural grey colour would of blended in more and looked less 'suspicious' to any fish no?
breambo25 1
If you use the reel with lures I would recommend braid in a bright yellow/orange colour so that you can see the line easier. You can go for a more natural tone if you feel that it is important but you tend to have a flurocarbon leader anyway so colour probably isn't too much of an issue.
