I've always done it head first so the head sits near the hooks but he reckons hes had better luck doing it the other way round, i was always of the opinion it looks more natural head first cheers :dry: Quote Link to post Share on other sites

clark 57 Posted October 10, 2012 Report Share Posted October 10, 2012 Yeah mate im with you head down to the prongs on the jag squid always go for the back of the head of the fish i live in port lincoln and find the bait jag is just as good as any 20 or 30 dollar suid jig if not better i find they come back for a second go on bait jag even if you miss them the first time afishyfish 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Squid will munch out the spine behind the head, that's where you want your hooks.I normally put out a tommy under a float with no jag on. pauly s 426 Posted October 10, 2012 Report Share Posted October 10, 2012 alot ov people say the head closest to the spikes but ive always done it the other way, ill cut the tail off and put it on like that. I think youll find that if they do grab the head and you go to set the spikes in youll just pull it out of its mouth at worst and then when they go for the second grab theyll just grab it where ever. still cant beat just having a teaser and gettin it close to the jetty and throwing you squid jig in.
