ashleycraig80 0
Hey guys, after my first tuna charter i'm already planning a trip in winter for the big sambos and are looking for an outfit that will handle the bigger boys.I've got my eye on the Okuma Salina 16000 reels and the Okuma Salina PE8 rods, spooled with 80lb braid. Anyone out there had any experience with these rods and reels? At $358 for the combo at Ray and Anne's it seems a steal compared to other big fish combos.

pauly s 426
no way your need a salina 16000 and 80lb for sambos mate... when your casting lures for a couple hours you want a much lighter set up ie, 4000 size reel and a graphite rod about 10ft for casting metals.braid wise i wouldnt be going heavier than 40lb but id use 20-30lb.the biggest salmon get is around 9kg so even 40lb is pretty massive overkill.get that combo for kings and the next tuna charter but i would be goin a much lighter outfit for salmon.pauly
