  2. Heres a piccy of one of my most recent biggish captures. Its a Bow that i bought about 2 1/2 years ago at about 6-7cm long, Grew em up to about 150-200gs in a rather elaborate setup in my backyard, then stocked em into a dam with a good food chain. More recently they have become very hard to tempt on lures, though they will respond to baits. This fish took 6 trips and over 20 hours of lonely lure casting, it swallowed the lure and i was starving so it got knocked on the head (not something i do normally).Ill try to find some big Trout pics soon. http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachm

  8. Hi there,You can dive (free or Scuba) for Crays in SA and use a Snare. If you want to use a pot you must ensure it meets the regs and register the Pot with PIRSA before use. Each individual can register up to 2 pots.Remember that you must clip the middle fan of their tails as they a brought ashore (to distinguish them from commercially caught ones). The best places for diving are BeachPort, Marion Bay and Surrounds. Second Valley holds lobsters but they are usually borderline size. Port Elliot is the same. For droping pots try Beachport, Robe, Horeshoe Bay, Marion and Pondalowie Bays.Good Luck.
  9. I love catching these fish and eating them too. On the beach I have had considerable success using gulp sandworms on a unweighted worm hook with a size 1 or 2 splitshot about a foot infront. When you bounce this rig the shot creates a puff of sand and then the worm is dragged into the sand cloud, when they are schooled up this method works a treat.Recently i have got quite a few KGs on rattlers, so im thinking that once they get into west lakes it should be possible to rattle them up also, as they tend to be even more aggressive than Kgs
  10. Butters, i have never damaged the boat on barnacles or rocks when fishing, however this winter my mates and i did some white water stuff down hills streams. That definatley trashed the boats. You do have to be carefull but their fine for westlakes and the port and dams. Still anyone wants to spend the money, a hard YAk would be better and easier to paddle too!
  11. Great stuff!!!I have used the "KENO" technique when fishing for redfin. When i catch a small one it gets a hook through the back and gets chucked out under a balloon or squid float, then I cast my lure around the float. Sometimes a small sinker is required to prevent the reddy hiding under the balloon. Works well on medium sized fish, and surely improves the odds!Once i even caught a huge reddy on the baby one!!!
  12. Addict, I wondered how your arms got so big. Now i Know haha!!! Great fish you got there buddy!!! No matter how many Bream and Trout i lift i just dont seem to get any stronger!

  14. I fish from a coleman inflatable Yak and fish westlakes, the port and fresh water rivers and dams, since i got it my sucess rate has improved no end. Yaks are fantastic, cheap ways to open up whole new fisheries and tecniques and on top of that its great for the arms and lungs.
  15. Mate i couldnt care what your wife says, but one things for sure...Sam is going to get it when i get home! thinks she can fish with whoever, whenever; man i feel betrayed.
  16. SOunds like a good idea, might give it a try this next week or so. I'm hanging for a feed of crabs. Yabadabadoo!!!
  17. This could be quite concerning.....I know many up the riverland; fishers and business owners, who are very concerned about the impact of these new proposals. As individuals or as concerned businesses, if we are interested we should make submissions. I remember the Trout review a few years back, the government only got a handfull of letters in opposition, and the fallout was that Many people were unhappy; if only they spoke up at the right time. still easy to say............
  18. Keep the closure going - it will not take long to deplete stocks again- Limit Weekly or Monthly Catch Quotas for Pros so that market flooding does not occur.- The aim for Pros should be, less fluctuation in catch - more uniformity of Price = Same money for less work - Sounds good to me, but they just cant seem to leave 'em biting.I know i Local Pro Squider who was sick of the competition and bastardisation of the local fishery; 2 years ago he invested his years profits into a large freezer. Then he negotiated a median price with a major local wholesaler/retailer.He supplies the squid on an ongo
  19. This misadventure happened to a friend of a friend, the names have been changed, lets call him Micky. My mate went trout fishing at a fav south aussie stream with Micky. They hiked 3ks or more deep into the middle of nowhere. After a while Micky started to dance around holding his stomach. "Man im busting for a crap!" With no facillities in sight the bush looked like as good a place as any.....Micky slowly dissapeared into the wilderness not to emerge for some minutes. Soon a shout pierced the valley "F...k!!!!.... I've shat myself!" oh oh. Some time later Mickey emerged from the bush; a strki
