  1. Still don't think you can beat the volleys or crocs but Shimano make an "Aqua Shoe" and an Evair shoe (google should find them for you). I'm sure one of the sponsors would be able to order them in if they didn't already stock them.Good luck with the hunt anyway.
  2. Dunlop Volleys are actually a good choice in my eyes. I know a few sailing fanatics that always have a few pairs laying around.
  3. Dude you shouldn't be kicking yourself... you should be cutting yourself. Snapper at dawn, whiting in the morning, have some lunch, chase some flatties or salmon in the arvo, head out at night and bag a bronzie. Yeah, that's my kind of living. Fingers crossed it actually unfolds that way!
  4. Thanks heaps Spog. I'll give it a good shot on my way past for sure!
  5. Some lads will know what I'm up to, some wont. In 10 weeks (early december) I'll be spending 10 days in KI. I'll have 5 days at Island beach with some other yak fishos (not on this site) but before that I'm all by myself, nothin but my rods, my yak and a whole heap of safety gear haha.I will find myself at Penneshaw on a Saturday arvo and need to be at Island beach Wednesday night. I can travel 30km a day including fishing time or 50km in a day to get to a really gun destination if need be.1. Does anyone have any good places to stay within a couple hundred metres of the beach? I'm talking Isla
  6. COMPLETELY illegal! The fact is though that most advanced fish keepers have kept fish they shouldn't technically have access to at some stage. I've never heard of fisheries or AQIS knocking on anyones door and presenting a search warrant to search their aquariums.Personally I have the view that if you're responsible and never let an introduced fish enter a waterway you're not doing any harm. I think that keeping things like redfin or red devils in tanks helps to raise awareness about exactly WHY we don't want them anywhere near our native fish.
  7. It looks like a seven gill to me however I haven't seen one that "dark". The one's I've seen have had a lighter grey body colour.
  8. Know a few people that snapped the first ones that came into Aus. Apparently it was a bad batch. From what I've heard they're all good now and I'm looking at getting one or two for myself!
  9. In terms of farming you need to look beyond tuna. The tuna industry isn't sustainable in the sense of the huge amounts of feed they need to bring in (though it was a step forward from the days most of the fish ended up canned!). Barramundi and Atlantic Salmon both have a positive future in my eyes. It all depends on the feeds though I guess.
  10. If we could just suss out a way to farm a fish with an FCR of 1 eating mainly soy we'd be set! :icon_lol:I don't feel that banning commercial fishing is realistic but something needs to be done whether people like it or not. I buy fish (mainly because I don't catch enough ) and would be happy to pay even twice as much if it meant the pro's were taking half as much.Maybe what we need to do is get our pro's to go and fish other countrie's waters, that way the money stays in our economy without hurting our precious whiting and snapper stocks. Problem solvered. :
