  1. Hi guys and Gals im heading down to victor for a 4 day bucks show friday and was wondering if anyone has any reports or if anything is biting around that way! mostly landbased but sunday is looking good for a yak( i probably will be yakking after saturday night :d/  :vomit: ) before golf at 12. id be keen on reports of squid/ flatties from the bluff way! :boot:

  2. Gday mate! a standard bream lure would be an sx40 normal or long cast, personally i like the camion sr and dr, there are that many out there you cannot go wrong. Also Jackall chubbies, Daiwa dr minnows the list goes on. im sure plenty of members have their own favourites as well.

  3. Forgot to add i use a slow drift in the kayak and cast and retrieve slowly with plenty of pauses and make sure the jag gets right to the bottom before lifting each time! i also usually sit a jag straight down in the rod holder as im casting the other one that sits just off the bottom and just uses momentum from the yak to get a jigging action just in case a school cruises past under me! i have to say both techniques catch me squid!

  4. Haha bloody hell this is an old topic! It feels more like five years ago rather than 18 months i have to say the advice was good! but since i posted that ive been slaying the squid in my yak  and my new favourite jag as ive said in other posts is the yo zuri red head glow white body! never fails!

  5. Only get hornes if ya wear em heaps! otherwise there is no point getting em! i got that surf combo last year and for 80 bucks its a bargain! i only got the rod as a backup though but the waders i have used many times and they are still keeping me dry nothing wrong with em!

  6. at first glance i wouldve said bream if i didn't know it was caught fresh! i think it looks like a silver or jade perch but remember the ponds are only a hop, onk slip and a jump away someone might have thrown it in not knowing the ponds were fresh! How long does bream last in fresh?

  7. I have too many but one or two of the most memorable would be the missus buying me an inflatable kayak and me realising i could fish out of this( i was only new to fishing at the time and with my ugly stick clearwater 6ft 2-4kg and a couple of lures i caught salmon trout and bream in the onk estuary and that started my love for kayak fishing.2nd would have to be my first sea voyage in my invader kayak! i caught one yellowfin a 35cm bream two large squid and my finger. I loaded up the kayak on the 4by with the hook in my finger after numerous attempts at getting it out with pliers! then went to hospital and got it taken out! a great first sea voyage! :woohoo: 3. getting my dad to fish on lure at port elliot( he doesnt fish) and catch a redfin on a jackall chubby that i never caught anything on! and the next day going out in kayaks at the hindmarsh and he caught his first lure caught bream as well!

  8. try tenderising with mashed up kiwi fruit. works a treat. no more rubbery squid.

I posted about that last year too ramo  works a treat though! you just have to get the quantities and time in the kiwi fruit right otherwise you end up with too tender squid! My tip as an ex Chef is too score or trelliss it and flash fry the quicker and hotter you cook it the better
