  1. Well done JW im surprised you got out for so much fishing! after planning our honeymoon for U.S.A late dec early jan i realised there wouldnt be much time for fishing :( Until the missus said I wouldnt mind going on a charter when we get to hawaii for some big fish   yeeeehaaa! hopefully there will be some fish around like the ones you were catching! GT's on poppers living the dream. Lucky bastard :P

  2. good topic mate but only 4 lures? thats hard! but ill tryB) 1) Camion in any colour my favourite lures for anything! as most of you know by now! but if i had to pick a favourite it is probably the sunset colour in DR2) my yo zuri Aurie Q 3.5 in the white glow body with the red head! has never failed me when going for squid from the yak and catches bigguns too.3)Gulp 6 inch worm in camo, i have caught flathead, whiting( KG,YF), bream, salmon trout and much more. It was also one of the very first plastics i bought many years ago4)finally it was a tossup between the yo zuri mag minnow in red and white and the jade md in sunrise so im adding them both!

  3. I'm a catch and release only fisho and just don't see the point in taking a fish that's only 15cm or so.

Do you use pilchards or whitebait? these are only small! kippers, sardines, anchovies there are many fish that are quite small and tasty to eat or perfect size to use as bait for snapper or larger species! There are plenty of reasons to take smaller silver whiting in a sensible manner.
  4. Im goin on a 3 night bucks weekend at victor caravan park:woohoo: :woohoo: :drink: :drink: :drink: :boat::fishing: :vomit:  fishing golfing and more importantly drinking:drink: hoping to hit up the inman in the yaks and around the bluff for squid! anyone know what else id be able to pick up inshore in the yak in between the hindmarsh river and the bluff

  5. I was lucky enough to have the missus go into anglers choice and ask the guys in there about sunnies for me for christmas, She ended up getting some ugly fish sunnies for around 120 i think and they are ideal and i love them! since i got them i haven't worn my 180 dollar von zippers she got me the year before! But if thats outta your budget any polarised sunnies should do

Lads just wondered what filleting knife you have found best for general purpose on smaller fish e.g. KG, ST, Mullet etc? I have heard the old bone handled butter knives are great for their flexibility and sharpness, also that a "Fury" is really good, what do you reckon?Cheers lads, any advice appreciated, my "Tramontina" 3ft Machete, just doesn't do the trick!

I think you might find that the Fury Knife is actually the Furi brand of knives 1 of the four or 5 top knives favoured by chefs- Victorinox, Global, wusthoff, Mundial and furi all have really good filleting knives! i use my victorinox boning knive like chucks apart from mine has a slight upward curve sort of a curved dagger style! I also use a diamond steel every time i use the knife as you cant substitiute for sharpness!
  7. What is the kilo rating on the rod? ie 2-4 kg you would mostly be fishing for smaller stuff like bream squid, whiting, salmon trout but it can also handle bigger stuff if you play it right!
