  1. nice fish mate, makes me think what its going to be like in kayaks {SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif
  2. thanks mate.$798.00 for an 8ft lathe. Is that a good price? Mudhole has them for $300i would like to be able to make some nice bream outfits, maybe a snapper rod or two. Is this the sort of price i am looking at to do this?
  3. hey, i am pretty keen on building a rod, i would like to know where i can buy the rod turners they use.
  4. to be honest, any i catch over 50cm (not too often mind you {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif) go back as i find them not as nice as the juicy smaller ones. I have no problem with others taking big mommas though, i just prefer to leave the big producers out there.
  5. biggest i have seen was a 44cm monster tail to jaw caught in 4ft of water at Pt Hughes by Dad
  6. this is really sad, I have caught 1 bream, and it was a whole TWENTY-FOUR cmwho wants to teach me how to catch them {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif
  7. we whinge about things not happening for us, or being held out of areas etc. The only way we have a chance of being heard and taken seriously is if people realise we are not a bunch of deroes, and that we take fishing seriously, and the only way we can do that is by organising ourselves into fishing clubs or register under a fishing body, and be able to raise funds for ourselves! I think that is the bottom line of the matter, without organisation and funds, we will be forced out of more fishing areas, and pollution and degradation of habitat will continue.
  8. thats a good view ospray, but i suppose that some monies ciould be used to stock natives into the rivers, or even to clean them up. But yes, i think it would be best to see how much it would be, where it would go etc
  9. i would be more than happy to pay up for a fishing license as long as 100% of it goes to a state fishing body. That said, do we have a rec-fishing body representing us? I have been an avid fisher for most of my years, and i still dont know if we have one.It may weed out some bad eggs that sit on jetties/wharves/beaches and sometimes even boats all over the state, catching and keeping anything and everything size/bag limit regardless. It may even pay for a few more inspectors, to police rules and laws that are very casually approached by most, and i do mean size limits and reintroduction of
  10. dont worry about winter kym, i have a couple of combos in mind that might help it fly by for ya!!
  11. can you enter in a kayak lazy?
  12. hey Yak, can you put one away for me under the name Rob??
  13. the trailer will be used to carry all the gear, 4 kayaks and all the rods in the rod tubes.I also dont want to get nasty saltwater on my new car {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif
  14. cheers mate, its all starting to come together now, picked up my new car on sat, and drove it back from Canberra, then i got my new rod today courtesy of Complete Angler Wallaroo. Thanks to the guys there for holding one for me.Now i just need to make my kayak trailer
  15. in that case, yakattack you'll have to put one away for me
  16. thanks livebait, I wont be baiting with two rods, we'll have enough work to do without having to worry about that
  17. now these are the posts im after!18livebait. I already have a quick release anchor setup for this specific reason. I am also either importing a Shimano Bristol Bay kayak fishing livey well with pump, or i will be making my own. So basically- Shimano TLD20/10kg Penn Mariner Plus - 15kilo mono, to 80lb wind-on, to swivel,to 1m of 100lb trace, to 7/0 Mustad Hoodlum, suspended underneath a balloon Shimano Spheros 14000FA/King Mac TCurve - {SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gifSpog61 - I will be investing in a drift chute. Thanks mate
  18. hey thanks for the replies, Can anyone tell me of the more sucessful rigs to use, and of course these need to be appropriate for the available baitfish at the time(august)
  19. is that the general consensus for up there? I reckon i have heard that before, maybe ill run 30lb mono instead on my TLD
  20. hey all. Some of the AKFF kayaking nutbags (including myself) are organising a kingfish hunt in the first weekend of august. Mods, I have put this here instead of the kayak section as the question is directed at boaties.I was just hoping for some advice from some experienced kingfishermen. I guess the standard gear we will be using will be TLD20s with 50lb braid on 10kg rods (or equivalent spinning rods).I will also be using an upgraded Spheros 14000FA on a King Mac TCurve. The rod may be a little under gunned but then again, we cannot set our drag overly high or we go swimming {SMILIES_PATH
  21. and thats the way it will change, unless we become an united group, and everyone begins voicing their opinions. Its no good sitting in front of your computer whining about the state of things, if you are not prepared to be involved in changing things, send an email, or give your local member a call, and tell him 5 million australian rec-fishers are backing you up. What Politician doesnt want 5 million voters backing him/her?
  22. Yes I imagine that the Desal plant will be directly feeding the golf course, at the same time buggering up an entire ecosystem, all so some rich businessmen can hit around a little white ball
