  1. Adamw,After years of trial and error jigging for Samsons and Kings and a lot of reaserch and advice from tackle experts this is how we now rig our customers up. I am not saying it is only way to do it but if done carefully and properly it's hard to beat.We start with a 50 turn bimini twist in your mainline (braid). A quality wind on leader is then attached and wound onto the reel. At the end of your wind on we crimp a suitable size quality ball bearing swivel. Once you have completed this attach a suitable size Owner split ring to the swivel. You will need a quality set of split ring pliers for this. Your choice of jig is then attached to the split ring as is your assist hook. A couple of things to watch when attaching your hook to the split ring is 1 hook size.Make sure your hook is compatible with the jig, you don't want your hook to be able to foul on the jig in any way. This can occur if the gape of the hook is similer to the width of the jig. What I tend to do is try to use hooks with quite a large gape. The other thing to watch is that once the hook is on the split ring and sitting next to jig it is pointing out. It is hard to explain but some hooks are designed to be attached only one way.Length of the assist hook is also important. Long jig-longer assist hook. Short jig-shorter assist hook. Once you get jigging always check your jig and wind on every 3 or 4 drops and if you are having no success don't be afraid to change jig colours. This can be easily achieved by removing only the jig from the split ring not the hook unless you want to change sizes.I will try to attach a photo for you. Hopefully it works.Posted Image

  2. I was up there for 3 days. Got nothing on the first day saw one school rise out of casting range.Day two we got 1 first thing in the morning on livies about 15-20kg then nothing all day untill sunset when the water erupted with a school of around 60-100 fish mostly horses.Nothing on day 3 (wasnt fussed by then)The lure I was using was a big Yo-Zuri donated by Ray and Annes.

  3. Day 1 we arrived at 5.30am and were able to get 8 squid on first light. Baits were set on balloons at the power station. All day we waited in driving rain for no result. Cold, wet and over it we headed to the pub to drown our sorrows.Day 2 back at the ramp at 5.30 with headaches and no inspiration we launched with a stiff wind already blowing. Squid were near impossible to get as the boat was driftind so fast our jags were skiing alond the surface. After one and a half hours we had a bait each and headed back to the station. Balloons set we waited again. My bait was slammed around 11am on a 24kg outfit. The fish behaved very well and was boatside before he knew it. After a quick pic he was returned to the water to fight another day. The rest of the day was event free so we packed up and returned back to Adelaide. All it takes is that one fish to get conversation happening about next years annual gutter trip.I have included a pick of the fish my mate got on last years trip. He wasn't to keen to return it as it was his first King. It did go well in the smoker though.http://Posted Image
