  1. good work buddy, i'm just thawing some out for tea tonight.
  2. actually one boat looad of guys we caught up with had an 18 footer pinching their fish. the guy's were a little freaked out, they said it looked like a submarine.
  3. i'll whack up a couple of pics once i get them off tom.Tell ya where we didnt go and that was illusions. there were 60 boats on it on monday!
  4. hey folks just thought i'd ask, did many of you head away for the opening?I made the trip with a couple of buddys. The spot we fished was a spot i had fished plenty of times before. But the fishing had never been so insane!I didn't put on a bait at all! monday was probably the hottest snapper bite i have ever seen. We were joking about what we could send down to the bottom that they wouldn't eat..Next cast, doubble hookup on bare jigheads! We had our bag in under ten minutes. so it was time to tag and release. Day two the word had got out, and there were plenty more boats on the spot. Which inc
  5. ?? pretty sure we saw the whole range ?? there was some bream stick that was the most expensive thing amonghst them all.. is that the one you are thinking about?
  6. dunno where you got a retail of $400 from?? that would buy you 2 or 3 of these rods.
  7. we looked at that model. but they looked cheap and nasty. theres no way the boys down there are gunna sell crap like that. adam just ordered the good stuff. i'd be amazed to see how one was broken, short of runnig it over with the car or closing it in the car door theres no way one will ever break on a fish. For the price of these things any joe blo can get one for next to nothing and step up with $400- $500 rods.can't argue with that, adam and i just got one each. We told the guy we are going to try our hardest to break them!!!Response was "well good luck.." even after we said we were using r
  8. dunno bout any info on the net, but adam and tried our hardest to break one, and i not kidding we loaded up these suckers like you wouldn't believe! they come with a 2 year warranty too!!
  9. My god happened to be at pacific marine today when the rep for these new slazenger rods came in.As soon as i read slazenger on the blank.. i thought here we go some guy trying to pedal some crap...But F-me!!! we loaded up rod after rod, and were very impressed. they are built with all the best components(expensive ones too). They would be easily comparable with any of the shimano or daiwa rods at a cost that would be half what the big names are asking. They have all sorts of rods in the collection from jigging rods, bream sticks and heavy big game overhead stuff. they all look the goods. The brea
  10. not a bad idea. at least there would be an even tension throughout the whole spool.

    BACKING

yep i'd say i agree withe the fellas hereanything you got laying around. Unless you are part of a club chasing records, in which case your backing can be no heavier than your main line.
  12. normally all these lures will work. but just of late the bream have shut down. i believe it was after all the fresh water was introduced. i have had sesions in there in my bass boat, under the bridge, where every cast hooked up. the other place to try is at the northern end under road, in the little pond. had some good ones out of there.
  13. Hey does any one know where to catch gummy sharks or school sharks locally?I need to tag some stuff to catch up to my mates in the game club. they all travel hundreds of kilometers to catch them, i was hoping to avoid spending up big if i could catch them locally..
  14. just to add, now i havn't had time to read the whole thread. But spoke to my best mate about the topic yesterday, he works for the fisheries and said pretty much it aint gunna happen. Reason being that every tom dick and harry they suspect would mean they would have to obtain a warrant. The main people they target are people who are defiling the Ab population.
  15. thanks fishie i'll keep that in mind for the next occasion.
  16. haha.. crap.. only thin we caught was a cameron 'ling' then the lock gates shit e'm selves so had to tie up on the outside of the lock.. then we relised we couldn't get out from where we were. so we "borrowed" some ones inflateable dingy and paddled ourselves ashore. hell of a night..
  17. hey long shot, any one willing to part with anything that might help out tonight if our spot dosn't produce. I'd be willing to trade. were heading to the middle of the gulf out from north haven. but leaving from glenelg.anyone??
  18. na i got the 30, but had a play with both.. was a hard decision in the end. they have a few there now.
  19. well i just bought 2 of e'm! tell ya what bang for buck! it was my mate who caught the jewy too and he's got 3 of these rods, but after speaking to him, he suggested getting the 50lb stick. There just that little bit stiffer in the tip.I tried looking them up on the net.. good luck with that, there only sold by one mob in town as far as i know SFS.
  20. mate! took the words out of my mouth, one of the ballsiest rods around. its thin like a noodle but damn does it have some power!I just put one on hold myself.
  21. we first discovered the rig fishing in the outer harbor shipping channel, we ran over a big school of snapper (tho we didn't know it at the time) all we had for tackle was bream gear. 6lb leader and 6lb braid with bream jig heads. we put a peiece of bait on either jig head, before we knew it we got dusted up by 3 or 4 of em.. before ryan landed one that went 4kg's.It was a totally random spot we just happened to stumble across using the humminbird side scan sounder.
  22. depends really, if there aint much of a hot bite goin on.. yeah for sure berley away. latley ive had success with a dogdy ass rig, similar to a standard snapper rig, but i'm using a large jig head on the bottom for weight with a plastic and then a dropper loop a foot and a half or so up the trace with a pillie on a single hook... dunno works for me.. looks a bit rough tho.
  23. I will have to agree with both of you!! I havn't seen one whilst out in the boat untill it ends up on the end of my line. but then i have been spooked by them whilst surfing.
  24. Weaver you got it! A lot of the bream guys use it me included, open your tackle box and let it rip!I used to keep bream in my pool, we'd get hammered and have a fish off, once 2 or 3 were caught the bite would shut down.. the only thing that would fire e'm up was a bit if inox on the lure or bait, so dont be worried bout that on your jig heads or trebles. SSSHHhh we like to keep that quiet
