Only a couple days left til the Pirtek Fishing Challenge kicks off for another year and I noticed there hasn't been much talk about it here. I have thrown my hat in the ring again and dragged a couple mates into it aswell this year.Who else is having a crack at it?? and where is everyone trying their luck/skill? fresh or salt?

I haven't eaten them for a while but always use to eat them as there would always be a few that would end up in the pot with the yabbies and from memory they weren't too bad.Anyone ever eaten larger shrimp? I would have thought they would be a bit like prawns...

Done......great little survey will be very interesting to see peoples views on some of the questions.

I have a few of their rods and reels and for the money paid for them I have no complaints at all. Lets just say for the price of a reasonable baitcaster outfit at my local tackle store I now own a baitcaster outfit, a few spinning outfits plenty of braid and mono line and probably have some change to go buy some worms. And they are an Australian owned company too as far as I know so that's a good thing.

I have one of the Pelagic extreme racks and they are good quality, come flat packed and take about 5 minutes at the most to assemble. Had mine for nearly 2 years now and still looks like the day i got it, holds 16 rods only and can fit about 12 combos into it. I can recommend them but have never tried another one and probably 75% of my fishing gear is pelagic extreme stuff.

What a day 12 hours of fishing up and down the river for a grand total of 2 yellas.......one of which went around 20cm(wasn't actually measured) then about 5 minutes later in came the biggest fish of the day another yella at a massive 27cm's lol. Was a great day to be out on the water although not too many people were....

Mr Willy i have one on my iphone called FishTimePro seems fairly good, gives a out of 5 star rating for how good the fishing is. Gives major and minor times to fish, tides, moon phases and sunrise and set and cost about a buck twenty from memory.

River access around Loxton is in very slim pickings at the moment. The boat ramp is a far as you can get along the riverfront, Thieles sandbar is blocked off not 100% sure about Rilli's Reserve but my guess is that is no go too. Milich's Landing is still accessable but that is about it for Loxton.

Those operas will work to catch shrimp but I have found that you do lose a few smaller shrimp. If you can find the opera house nets with the finer black mesh you'll get all the shrimp you'll need (in theory). I have also used those collapsible square nets with success. Hope this helps.
