  1. Crackin' Fly Darren, should be a gimme for those poor un suspecting whiting mate B)Boy, am I envious of that jungle cock? "Twas at least 25 years ago that I owned a cape from Veniards of the UK, sadly had to leave it in the UK when I emigrated as it was a risk of having been infected with Feather mite according to the Customs officers :unsure:I hear that you can buy synthetic nowadays? You wouldn't stoop so low tho', would you?Luv to hear where you sourced it from, pretty please
  2. Thank you for being a leveller of this issue Brian.Because I started this thread and make no mistake, it has developed a rare amount of passion and discussion, I now find that I am defending my right to have an opinion on this free and open Forum, which of course is NOT what we are about on Strikehook! In the beginning, I was given a complete copy of the now infamous, leaked budget documents by a contact whom I am unable to disclose for obvious reasons.I asked my contact if this was a ticking time bomb and should I be sitting on it?His reply, no, it's OK it's out there now! He also added and he
  3. Right of reply Moggy; All of my comments were MY comments only, based on MY opinions of this topic. All of these comments were directed SOLELY at the topic itself!I have attacked the issue only and not once have I attacked the personality who made the comment!!My opinion is no better or worse than every other contributor to our Forum! Please stick to ISSUES and we can avoid all this un necessary angst.Regards, Tony.
  4. I wonder how this thread got so far off course
  5. There is a very definite wind of change blowing through our State government at this time! I am personally involved with this change and am very excited by it!!You can choose the option of being a "knocker" or be more positive and try to embrace these changes which will empower recreational Fishers with a very strong voice in the fight for our fishing rights!http://www.strikehook.com/forum/74-pirsa-fisheries/115473-pirsa-listening-to-rec-fishers
  6. Your input is very much appreciated MM as we South Aussies only look across our borders with wonderment at the benefits of a RFL and salivate at the mouth :ohmy:We may be in the lucky country but why are we so divided in the laws and governance of such a simple pleasure as going fishing???? :SRoll on the RFL is my take, open the Government waters to the people who actually own it!! Remember, we all only elected the Government to run the Country for us, why wont they listen to what we want???Join a Club, add your voice to the groundswell of opinion! that's our only path to acheiving a positive
  7. just picked up 140 bucks worth from zilla last night for me and Matt89 :woohoo:Those reddys better watch out this week end
  8. It's been a fascinating thread guys and quite amazing the input both for and against!!The Reality is that I posted this thread on the strength of what was contained in the infamous PIRSA leaked documents! The stark reality is that there is to be NO RFL in SA at this time!!!!At the very least the powers that be will be able to gauge the strength of feeling from reading forums like these if they eventually do bring in a RFL!Many thanks to all who contributed, both for and against! Well done!!
  9. Been fishing Blades for more than 2 years now _Matt_ and trust me the efficiency of all the varied Blades I've used over this period have been well and truly tried out in the school of hard knocks on a weekly basis!Berkley Bigeye, probably the only Blade with built in rattles, are an absolute standout in my chosen medium of freshwater fishing! (tho' I can't speak for salt water as I don't go there apart from a recent trip to Southport for a few small ST's on a Damiki Blade!)My Blade box contains ALL the most popular makes and a lot of them won't get wet again for all they are some of the most
  10. Sad and disillusioned, defeated by the system, does it fit???Think positive, dare to dream, fight for what you know is yours by birthright!!The "Brave New World " will never be won if we don't use the power of positive thought and the mass will of the people to see it through! It's worked all over the world and interstate, WHY NOT in good old SA?
  11. In the UK the surf fishing scene was purely about getting the most distance out of your overhead reels to get amongst the fish! Incidentally the terminology for a reel of this type in the UK, was a "multiplier"Abu was and probably still is the Rolls Royce of this class of reel and were one of the earliest on the design scene with centrifugal magnetic brakes! These were generally 4 in number, sometimes two, consisting of small tubes of brake lining material, mounted on 4 small spindles radiating out from the central main spindle. These tubes just floated on the spindles until the reel was cast
  12. SOLID GOLD Weaver! That's what we have been fighting for forever in this backward State of ours!Absolutely every other State has embraced this concept but our SA Ostriches still have their collective heads buried firmly in the sand! Some very positive and forward thinking ideas came from the recent PIRSA/SARFAC Forums which have me and lots of others, very excited about the future for recreational fishing!!!!Interestingly, we finished our Forum with a wish list of our FIVE most desired visions and guess what? YES, Funding was "numero uno"NOTHING happens with out funding!!!My thinking on this is

  17. Hi guys,This is the last of a set of Blades which were gifted to me over a year ago and I'm gonna be gutted when it finally meets a watery grave :sick:Any help on the manufacturer would be greatly appreciated B)they were bought from a Victorian store which may help as I've not seen them in any SA stores. I have scoured a lot of web sites as have a couple of guys from SAFWAA!just throwing it out there to see if they can be tracked down Thanks in anticipation
  18. Got a Club "sinking line', with reel, which is a #6 weight, which you would be very welcome to try James
  19. Totally impressive Darren, any for sale? The redfin would go ape on patterns like those! :woohoo: Have you tried it with a bead head? Bought some shrimp type imitators off Joepro which would have benefitted from your technique as well (I think Joe uses the two pack for his flies)
  20. __matt__ wrote: Yeah, I read that one as well awesome stuff, obviously written by a guy who really knows his fishing, in fact I think it was written by tonyb on here
