  2. Yep its the 50 yard spool of leader. Words of wisdom there mate, maybe my knot tying does need improving. Seems like a nice bit of line to work with, just had me stumped why it was breaking with not alot of force.
  3. I went on s shopping spree at ray and annes the other day, needing lures and a leader. Couldnt find any sunline vhard so I picked up some of this stuff in the 4lb breaking strain. I found it very easy to break, on a few occasions tying a new leader on it would snap as I was tightening the double uni knot. Question being was I being too strong arm for it, or has anyone else had problems with this product? It snapped on the line by the way, not at the knot.
  4. Thanks AF, that is a really good guide. Gonna head out to the local tomorrow and do the 3 P's =D
  5. Thanks for the help guys. Didnt know too much about baitcasters when i bought this one, seen them used a few times for lures etc with the thought they have better casting accuracy.Sounds like there are a few more options to use it than i thought. Might whip it out at somepoint soon =D
  6. 4-8kg line rating on the rod Boy. Its a rather heavy rod for this kind of application.
  7. A few months ago I visited BCF. Giddy on cash and the smell of new tackle I bought a baitcaster rod and reel combo, about 130 bucks for the rod and reel. Matched it with 8lb fireline went off with my mate (who bought one aswell) ready to catch bream. Cast it first time and BAM massive birdsnests. We then realised we didnt know what we were doing. After a while we worked out how to cast( and what to cast, not unweighted flickbaits ) So realising that it would only cast weighty lures with any great distance, i upsized to 20lb line and turned it into a mully lure rod. Since then it has gathe
  8. The comments explain all. They said the lure was hookless, just to showcase how a flatty will stalk and strike and they also said it looks faster than it is =D looks fast though...
  9. Try like you said perrys bend or under/near the main south road bridge. Been a while but as you cross the MS road bridge heading south theres a set of lights, turn left then first left and follow road around. Perrys bend is good, barbie and toilets =D
  10. Sorry to hijack this thread, but I also have some questions and would like to gather some opinions on vibes ( i suppose lures in general aswell)In regards to colour selections, when fishing in dark, murky waters whats the general consensus? Ive only had decent success with the darker, more natural colored lures. But in clear waters such as west lakes I still have only had luck with the darker colours instead of lighter colours. Which begs the question : Has anyone had any luck with the more flashier colours/patterns or are they just a bit of a gimmick? Something that stocks the shelves and
  11. Deal is done, thanks for protactic for a great deal! Will be taking the combo out for a spin tomorrow morning =D
  12. Thank you for the replies. I believe Ill take my money to a local place, where I can get some good advice. I find BCF lacking in that department. Though 400 dollars of lures is looking tempting, the catana has served me well so far =P
  13. I have suddenly found myself with an excess $400...I was thinking of turning said money into a new bream rod. If anyone could suggest something nice, I havent really had a look at better quality gear before. I use a shimano catana 1-3kg and a sienna 2500 reel. cost about 90 bucks i think all up.If anyone thinks this $400 would be better spent on say lots of lures, please suggest away Oh and this is missus approved, believe it or not :woohoo:
  14. Land based mate. Although when I say im going to try out mullie fishing all I mean is im gonna throw out a pillie and leave the rod while i fish for bream =D
  15. I hope sunday morning follows through Jack! gonna hit the Port up with a few mates, try out mully fishing for the first time =D
  16. Went out today and fished with crabs solely. Mostly near where the tugs used to anchor in front of the birkenhead tavern. Noticed the smaller crabs were being picked off my hook VERY easily, didnt even know I had a bite. Only one of the bites I had seemed like an actual bite (tap tap) Got frustrated with this, sun was getting warm and the people at the Birk looked like they were enjoying their beers. Found a couple of larger crabs, at least 2-3 times the size of the previous ones. I was thinking that they would have a hard time picking these off the hook. First one I had a decent bite,
  17. Maybe I should have doctored that location
