  1. Thats awesome mate, that reaction when breached the surface...classic!
  2. Wow how does the rod not break? Especially when he rests it on the hull
  3. I recognise that grain of sand...
  4. I reckon i saw you out there after christmas MCA, the dreds are reminding me. I used a blade for 2 days and didnt snag up once. 1 blade did the damage and I was very happy with that. Berkley big eye blade 50mm brown with lighter brown stripes and a red eye. And if you do lose one its not too bad as you can get a twin pack for 16 bucks at tackleworld.
  5. Yeah I was in the olive hobie with the dodgy haircut Even though it was blowin it's guts out I had a great couple of days fishing.
  6. Yeah sugars is on hindmarsh island Luke others have said though Lau children at mundoo channel it's a better ramp its on the same road to sugars. Go out of the channel and chuck a right and there is the mouth. Sugars beach is across the channel from the mouth. Fish where the rest of the boaties are and can almost guarantee a schoolie at the moment. Hoping to get down there tomorrow at some point too
  7. Hey jack spent the last 2 days fishing off sugars in the yak and it's been quite good. Only landed one bream but the school mulloway have been going nuts on a Berkley big eye blade, brown in lighter brown stripes and a red eye. Caught my first Mulley yesterday then caught another 14 like it over 2 days. Great fun on light gear and would be great for the kids.
  8. Forecast looks grim for this weekend! Gonna brave it anyways!piratepom you are correct. This site is great, full of people willing to give a helping hand. Great community at S&H, thank you for all the meaningful contributors.
  9. Lots of great tips there, ill be hitting west lakes this weekend for sure. Gonna try and keep focused. I find that if after 3 hours of casting I lose concentration and start to mess up the retrieve or waste time changing lures etc. This discussion is getting me pumped!
  10. Cheers mate, had 2 flicks since this post. Tried some big squidgy flickbaits and slick rigs. Had something on the shoreline shiner for a second but methinks it was a plucky ST.Missus just gave me some dosh, a trip down the local is in order =) I definitely like the look of the mongrels and ridgebacks, ill pick some up and hopefully post a report with me grinning from ear to ear.
  11. the end of the actual fishing movie is my way of looking at it; Dont eat the fish! Wont weigh into the old debate release vs eat, but this is my way I catch fish for fun therefore I like as little damage as possible to anything I catch. TT has some great tips there, some of which I use and some I will start using. Something I also try and remember to do is flatten my barbs. If it loses me some fish I dont mind, compared to the damage they can do to the rest I catch. Also alot easier to remove if you snag a homosapien :cheer:
  12. Been MIA for a while, mostly in Europe for the last month. Came back with a bit of cash so lashed out on a new rod, specifically for targeting mullies. Went to R&A and got a nice berkley venom 4-7kg paired with a daiwa ballistic 3000. Awesome cast and the reel is smooth as.I have taken it out twice now to west lakes, without a result. Flicked around daiwa shoreline shiner and some squidgie slick rigs around in the awesome weather today. Didnt get a sniff but I feel confident ill crack them.Anyways I have a tacklebag full of bream lures but not much in the way of mully stuff. Can anyo
  13. Thanks for the responses. Those lures look the go Ill give them a try and something in pumpkin seed. I really look forward actually to putting those kind of hours in, no pain no gain! =)
  14. Wow theres some crackers there.Only fishing injury I could say I have had was a severe hangover, consoling myself after not catching a thing at Nelson.
  15. Yeah i didnt think about that. We both were fishing unweighted gar/bottle squid for most of the day, with a bow in the line. Maybe the bow needs to cut out, and bigger circles is a great idea Moggy...though the missus might be adverse to another shopping trip! Oh and beautful day for wetting a line today
  16. I recently purchased a bunch of circle hooks hearing nothing but good from them, for when the missus wants fish. She usually bait fishes. We went to the Onk this morning and caught about 20 bream with most going just under legal and only 4 going over.To the question! Does anyone have problems with circle hooks not hooking in the mouth but the gut? I was disappointed as at least 50% of fish were gut hooked, degorger got a workout. I really dont want to see these beautiful creatures come afoul because of an injury sustained from us.Cheers MarcPS owner circles
  17. Also I have tested the surgeons out, only once on an outing. Nailed a nice 34cm bream at westlakes and it stood up strong, but have no idea if it could take anything bigger.
  18. I use the loop knot for lures.I have used the clips and I agree there is nothing better for quick lure changes. Though I have lost a lure to one popping open at an unfortunate moment (fish on) so I now just tie a simple loop.I was looking for a new leader to braid knot, I find the double uni on the rod im using with line/leader can be a quite large knot and sometimes catches on the eye bracing. I was looking for a much lower profile knot that was ultra simple to tie and saw this demonstration for the surgeons on Youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orh_pZoRJmMIs as quick as any I have see
  19. Well Jack as you know we went out fishing to a not so secret spot in the port. Well timed advice from your old man led to me catching a nice bream I believe it was something along the lines of keeping my rod tip high so you dont get busted off on the rocks! It worked and I caught a fish from it!
  20. Ill be there with a couple of mates
  21. First time I read this, thanks for the necro Though some of the parts that were meant to be XXXXX are still :c on page 2, jaffas reply, rangfish also amongst others.
  22. My missus recently had some problems at vodafone. Phone reception was terrible, service terrible. 3 months of the runabout and my missus eventually got out of her plan. Vodafone and 3 are merging, but that merge hasnt gone ahead yet.I,m on the otherhand, am with 3. Their planes are reasonable and I find if I am out of 3's range then I switch to roaming on telstras network. My bill is the same every month so I dont think i get charged for it. Best of both worlds. But it wont last long as like i said 3 and vodafone are merging. In my opinion you get what you pay for. Ive always had good cu
  23. Thanks for the great advice guys!I dont plan on going all out for the sake of it, the missus wouldnt be impressed if I did that I have a few SX40's, got a road test last weekend. Nothing yet on them, but the quality of the lures is impressive. I have a few wrigglers and fish, I will definitely be stocking the SP's more than the HB's. As for the vibes, I might just get the berkley big eye blades. I bought a ecogear vibe recently and it was lost in the first few seconds. When I can get 6 of the berks for 2 of the VX it makes sense cash wise.
