  1. any rod will land squid (well pretty much any). but 5-8kg does seem on the heavy side. what's the action like?
  2. Maybe check out those Starlo Stix rock fishing rods. I think they're 9ft so would suit beach work. Would match that reel size pretty well too. I don't know what the rods are rated to though
  3. the Ci4 1000 is extremely light so you might want to think about how it's going to balance on those rods mentioned. you'll need a pretty light rod otherwise it might feel a bit tip heavy. having said that, some people prefer a tip heavy set up.for what it's worth i needed to go to a 2500 Ci4 to balance on my 1-3kg T-Curve.
  4. i have this set up as well. nicely balanced and very versitile.
  5. does a squid on a lucanus jig count as weird?
