  1. I think like anything it can be both what you know, what you don't know and some good old fashioned luck.I recently received one of those 'Melaluka' Game Rods with roller bearings from eBay for my birthday. Now rather than chortling that it was cheap shit I gave it a good looking over and I am actually well impressed with it's finish. Metal reel seats to boot! :PI did loads of reading up on them once I got it (had never heard of them before) and it's the same. Mixed reaction. Those opposing them never used them, always said 'you get what you pay for', which I would usually tend to agree with.T

  4. The anal fin makes it more likely to be a Grunter than a Perch imo

    Braid

I too have gone the way of the braid and so far I'm loving it (although maybe being a born-again virgin to the sport it was a simple transition )A handy tip I found is to:1. Wind the spool on the same way it comes off. Don't 'line-up' the spool with the rod when winding on, keep it almost 'side-ways' if you wish so as it rolls off in one direction, it ends up on your spool in the same.2. Use a wet sponge. Not sure how good or not this is, learnt this from an old man who's a keen fisherman i know who told me this trick. Running the line through the wet sponge means it goes on moist (moist, not

  9. Hey guys and gals,Well, as some may or may not know, I haven't picked up a rod in over 10 years, so I am a complete virgin again now....fishing, not anything else ;)Anywho, I am keen as bean to get my rod in and catch some dinner, but I cannot convince a single mate to come along, and all 3 that have boats are too goddam lazy! When I used to fish I was spoilt by choice. Had 6 mates with boats, could go out almost any day I pleased, they were all well experienced so I was quite 'spoon fed' back in the day. Now I want to walk down the street (literally) and throw my rod in the Onky I am wondering
