I like to salt them in my esky for a couple of hours after i collect them with a $6 bag of pool salt and only enough water to make a slurry.Then I vac pack them with as little water as possible but pleanty of the salt i.e. 1/3rd of the bag is salt. You will find that with time the cockles will brine and turn a little yellow and toughen up BUT the whiting absolutely LOVE them and my hook up rate has improved due to the fact that they cant just suck the cockle off and I believe they like the taste/smell.The cockles never stink they just smell like the brine and I dont even refrigerate them when

Just a tip on the scanpan 3 stage sharpener, i have had one and it was great for the first year or so of use and it has totally ruined the edges on my scanpan knives.It tends to cause the edge to break away and form serrations which turn into huge gouges in the edge which make grinding the edge back to nothing the only option for recovery.

  5. I used to go there a lot as a kid, you can get some massive sand whiting about 1/3 the way down the jetty on a high tide in summer there, the hotter the better. If its cold and low tide I wouldnt waste my time unless you like catching shitties!At night you may be a chance for some snapper at the right time of year from the end near the wrecked pylons.By the way I have seen a school of huge Kingies cruising the sand flats there on high tide, I thought they were dolphins at first but when they didnt come up for air and cruised past us in crystal clear water I realised what they were, it was an a
