  1. Agree with the small ones fighting good, geez they even fight better than bream! I suppose mine fought shit cus it was in a pond, and the old fish wouldnt have even had to contend with currents or anything.
  2. Thought mine was a big tench or something, but mine fought in pretty much the same way I wanna get another one the same size again.
  3. How did yours fight Mr_Willy? mine didnt fight good, but just interested in how others fought.
  4. 40 cms is pretty big in the murray, got 19 silver perch in a session there once, but none were of decent size. I read somewhere that they tend to go pretty big in the dams for some reason??
  5. I only got it cus me and one of my mates kept pushing each other in the water and me mate was too chicken to get it so while in the water, thought may as well get it...
  6. I gave it to my mate, and so far hes gotten snook, salmon and rock cod on it (loves it) he got ti snagged out in the gorge so I swum and got it for him
  7. heres a silver perch I got a few years ago, caught on bread, while fishing for carp in an urban pond... fish measured 53cms (picture doesnt do it much justice)and was released in good condition. It put up an OK fight on 6lb, but it fought a bit sluggish.
  8. Convient way of storage It would hurt heaps and I know what it isl iek t have a hook stuck in me finger... ouch!
  9. Haha the old man caught a callop smaller than that! I was tempted to keep it in an aquarium, we released it instead...
  10. Would be better off using livies... If you (like me) prefer to lure them, fish the drop offs like what ya would do for bream, and use the same lures you would use for bream, but on a larger scale (hooked them all on squidgeys). I have hooked up a couple of massive ones in the lake on bream gear, although this was on bream gear (of course ended up losing them), and the hook ups came by the drop offs... Use a 15-30lb leader and you should score one if ya put in the time, catching mullies consistently is difficult, but put the hours and you will definitely score one. The hardest bit is finding t
  11. Nup its a small cod can see the distinctive mottled pattern of cod on it. And callop have a wide flank to vcompared to cod... Its defitely 100% a cod! All predatory freshwater fish are cannibals.
  12. I was gunna say them kakoda poppers as I saw one of them in K Mart the other day.
  13. Especially if theres birds feeding, but dont hook up a seagull!
  14. Yeah I wish we could of done at least one morning/dusk session but there was no way in hell we could .
  15. Yeah its a bit of hike aye, I really wanna go there again but doubt I will be able to get there again :-\
  16. We arrived at 11:30 and left around 3 which i wasnt too happy about as the butes were starting to come. I fished the whole lagoon with bait and lures.
  17. Wish I had a sesh like that! It was a bit windy to cast lures though... stuck with bait and only a few bites
  18. No worries chezz, and do put the hours in and you will figure out some things...
  19. Floats are better or if ya fishing off wharf or boat simply just drop the bait straight down and raise it a couple of metres off the bottom. Dead baits work in the port but they have to be FRESH no more than a day in the fridge. My favourite spot in the port fishes best on low tide with lures, and bait under a float on the high
  20. Nah I was tempted to but it was too rough to wade out there so I just stuck to the beach.
  21. At least ya can get fish at browns! Came back from there today, everything was perfect, yet nothing to show for the big drive :'(
  22. Used really small lure clips on plastics, it does make it SO much easier! Didnt put off the bream.
  23. Yeah I would say ya estimates are correct... same night ya got the 7 kilo snapper ey?
  24. I love them spiky ones looks awesome!
