  1. Well didn't catch any fish that trip, but got some great snaps and did some hardcore bush bashing in the work van.....just don't tell workfirst and last are my favourites
  2. wondering if anyone has done the same:finished up a fun trip to salt creek (caught some salmon, gummies and plenty of soapies) and as per usual you come home fairly exhausted and have to clean up and pack up. Without thinking i grabbed the left over bait, which was still good, and chucked it into a few plastic bags and into the freezer. Now im heading to yorkes for a fish and have just realized I put the bait into those scented rubbish bags! :S Is this going to leave a stench on the bait? Are the fish going to be put off the bait?
  3. Keen2 -As everyone else has said, just stick to off the shelf gear, there is plenty on the market available. Highly suggest having a feel of the rod and reel together. It will need to be weighted for your style - you'll know/feel when the combination is good for you. Do your research on the product - even ask around on here, there are some superb tech heads around!
  4. you should be one of his sales reps will contact weaver about them...any pics of what they look like?
  5. Seriously, don't look past the Olympus tough series. Great camera for less than $400 (depending on where you shop). Mine is a bit older and has Full underwater pics and video to 10m and shockproof to 3m. It has gone through absolute living hell and is still going. I will post underwater shots from Thailand when I get home tonightCheers
  6. Goin to the lake this wknd with a mate to try out his two person canoe. Planning on having a bit if a trawl whilst getting to some hard to reach places throughout the lake. Would mullies go for a waxwing? Or has it got too much action on it? What would be a good trawling lure for mullies?
  7. The 10ft ugly stick platinum, 10ft is huge when you are only 5ft tall!
  8. Yeah plan is to get another spool with 20-30lb mono and use that for areas I know are rocky/snaggy
  9. Well, bit the bullet and ordered the rod and a different reel. Took the advice from a few of you guys and got a penn 760L (live liner). The 560 did feel quite light for the rod and once I put the 760 on it felt a lot more balanced. Getting the thing loaded with 30lb viros braid, can't wait to catch the first beast on it!
  10. love the first shot, can just see the clouds rolling in. Nice work
  11. Seems like I might have to have a look at the live liner also then. Planning to have 20lb mono on the reel, as I'll be using it off of rocks as well.
  12. thanks for the kind words guys. TT yoiu are right, it is an awesome camera, especially for the price and it takes some crystal clear shots no matter what mode it is used in. Jack I reckon I still have the box lying around somewhere, it's all yours
  13. hey mate got one myself. I'm running 50lb braid with a bimini twist to 100lb mono shock leader (approx 2m). It's setup as my shark rod, and hasn't caused me any troubles (has only had one run before the fish spat the hook). just remember to store it with the lever drag BACKED OFF. Good reel for trawling and the lever drag makes it very easy to use. Also make sure the drag is correctly set for the lb line you are using
  14. Looking at getting a new rod and reel. Looking at a 10ft shimano ugly stik platinum and a penn 560 slammer. Mainly going to be used for live baiting round town and a surf rod when I head south at some stage. What are your thoughts on the two products?
  15. Had photobucket but was new to this whole IMG code but now i knowcheers guys
  16. yeah sorry, some reason I can't upload a decent quality pic. File size is only 4mb
  17. Went fishing on the weekend for a night sesh in the Lake and decided to take some shots and learn thenew camera that I got ( Nikon D5100). The first one has had a colour filter applied to it. Bit rough but not bad for my first shot
  18. personally go for a hangmans knot when tying braid to teminal tackle. Since using it my loss rate has gone done significantly
  19. Put away some rods and gear tonight and looked at my dismal effort at proper rod storage. It fgot me thinking about how it could be done better and more accesable. At the moment I have a small section of the shed dedicated to fishing gear, but there has got to be a better way. Anyone have some nifty tricks or hints for storing gear? Put up some pics of your storage setups!
  20. Plankton has coveredthe majority of it....When looking at a rod take note of the section where you mount the reel, that'll be a dead giveaway for which type of rod it is
  21. I hear ya man...me, I'm gonna try and get myself a metro silver ghost.. never caught one so now is a better time than any and I think I have found a few interesting land based spots. A new friend of mine now has a boat so I think a KG hunt or two will be on the cards but, like you, I am extremely keen to give a Pt augusta kingie a crack so I might have to convince him on that one too. I reckon this time of year is a great chance to improve on my lure abilities with all the STs around around and just perfect something that is relatively new to meCrackin post Jack!
  22. well done.. you might want to get it insured.. cameras dont float.. i know this.... :dry:Excellent idea. Just for future reference also...iPhones don't swim
  23. Well I bit the bullet and purchased the 5100 single lens kit with insured postage for less than $650. Can't wait to actually take some decent photos while I'm out wetting a line!
  24. Hey everyone, got some cash to splash and was thinking of purchasing a DSLR so I can take decent shot while I'm out fishing. Looking around and the Nikon D5100 seems like a good deal, but I'm still unsure. Now I am looking at only the body and possibly an 18-55mm stock lens. I figure there is no point paying for an extra lens when I could spend some more money and get better quality lenses down the track. The camera body is currently going for $547 including postage, I can make a various choice of lenses laterThe site I get my prices from is www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au
