  1. Never specifically targeted bream at edithburgh, but have seen some thumpers swimming around the boat ramp pontoons so they must be some around there. I do pretty well on salmon throwing metal slugs in the 20-30g range down at sultana point just down the road. But you need a fairly low tide to get right out on the sand bar throwing them into the shipping channel, they patrol up and down there. I'll be down there all weekend this weekend too.

  2. We used to do the crossing fairly often in the old 18' cat once on the way back in huge un-forecast blown up swells on only a single motor as one refused to start, not exactly ideal conditions in pitch black darkness. Have done edithburgh to wedge on occasion in the new bigger cat and it is a rather long trek, made even long if you didnt pick your days correctly

These two blokes had to be winched to safety by a chopper last Thursday at Wedgehttp://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/breaking-news/boat-strikes-rocks-helicopter-to-winch-men-to-safety/story-e6frea73-1226254117695

I was over that way thursday, the sea's out there would have been terrible
  3. I'm a huge patrol fan, what being an owner of one and all. They come highly recommended by me, loves sand driving and eats up any dune you point it towards. However I have just recently purchased my misses a '99 Suzuki Grand Vitara and I must say I quite like it. Petrol 2.5L V6 so has plenty of grunt for such a small 4x4, enough to pull a small boat around easily, plenty of ground clearance, and gets 11-12L/ 100km down to 9ish on the freeway. And unlike all other "fake 4x4's" of it's size (forester, rav4 etc etc) it has a proper high and low range 4x4 box, it's just about un-stoppable

  4. anything that combines wind/ weather, tides and lunar charts would keep me pretty happy, at the moment I have apps for all but does become a pain having to check all. Even an active widget which could be put on the main screen so it's even simpler to check current condition.I find most of my trips are unplanned so it's nice to get a quick update of whats happening at the time when I decide to head out

  5. Couldnt tell you my earliest memories of fishing as I was way too young and my dad has always had a boat in the driveway. But I certainly do remember heading out from the old glenelg boat ramp every weekend to chase whiting, Also our almost monthly Browns trips along with our christmas holidays to Coffin bay to chase big snapper.I have a photo at home somewhere of me holding a 15kg Coffin bay snapper and it is almost bigger then me

  6. A mate of mine has a place on spielsby island, keeps an old surf lifesaving boat out there. We spent a day just exploring all the drops and reefs around the island all shallow water and just about all of them held snapper, nothing huge but was awesome. Also got some decent cray that weekend, one we couldnt figure out how it actually got in the pot it was so big. Some really good fishing out there thats for sure. I once took the same mate fishing locally for whiting got onto a few just legal and he was surprised we even bothered keeping them as they were too small. 40+ is just about all you see out there in KGs

  7. So on the way over to yorkes for our first tuna hunt we purchased a couple of highly recommended yo-zuri 140mm hydro magnums. One purple and one gold and green. So when it came to trolling them we put both out on pretty much the same setups, trolling at 7 knots. The purple one swam brilliantly and dove straight down to where it was ment to be. The other one however seemed to move around very violently putting alot more shake into the rod, and then it would either dive down suddenly or breach the surface. The purple one resulted in a tuna within the first km :woohoo: while the other was very quickly changed out for another lure after changing the knots it was tied with and trying a bit of everything :( Now my question is, is there anything to look into to make it swim correctly? I noticed that the front treble had put a few wear marks in the sides of the lure where it had been rubbing, it was shaking around so much rather then swimming like it's supposed to
