  1. I used it out at neptunes the other week and it's better then the maps we have currently on our boat for finding a few lumps and bumps. Also good for boring times at working finding new destinations to explore.
  2. he must have some aussie episodes
  3. Never specifically targeted bream at edithburgh, but have seen some thumpers swimming around the boat ramp pontoons so they must be some around there. I do pretty well on salmon throwing metal slugs in the 20-30g range down at sultana point just down the road. But you need a fairly low tide to get right out on the sand bar throwing them into the shipping channel, they patrol up and down there. I'll be down there all weekend this weekend too.
  4. have caught plenty of squid while trolling for snook at a reasonable rate of speed. Have even caught them with a metal slug while chasing salmon of the beach. hey will attack just about anything
  5. Yup just an odd accurance in or waters, like the dolphin fish caught last year and the leather back turtle which someone on here hooked
  6. Long liners piss me off so much. One day out at Edithburgh we had a pro follow us out to try and pick up our spots as he didn't know where to go (we don't fish the shoals like everyone else) and we didn't even know he was on our tail till a local informed us. Luckily we were just heading out collecting a few squid for bait so no luck on his part
  7. I have been putting in the hours on a few SYP beaches the past year, still yet to pay off. But I'll get it sussed sooner or later. Struggling to get past the sharks and rays at the moment
  8. We used to do the crossing fairly often in the old 18' cat once on the way back in huge un-forecast blown up swells on only a single motor as one refused to start, not exactly ideal conditions in pitch black darkness. Have done edithburgh to wedge on occasion in the new bigger cat and it is a rather long trek, made even long if you didnt pick your days correctly I was over that way thursday, the sea's out there would have been terrible
  9. I'm a huge patrol fan, what being an owner of one and all. They come highly recommended by me, loves sand driving and eats up any dune you point it towards. However I have just recently purchased my misses a '99 Suzuki Grand Vitara and I must say I quite like it. Petrol 2.5L V6 so has plenty of grunt for such a small 4x4, enough to pull a small boat around easily, plenty of ground clearance, and gets 11-12L/ 100km down to 9ish on the freeway. And unlike all other "fake 4x4's" of it's size (forester, rav4 etc etc) it has a proper high and low range 4x4 box, it's just about un-stoppable
  10. Yup had my rod tucked under my arm re-baiting my hook when it gave me a decent jolt right in the arm pit, enough to cause me to drop my rod. Was pretty odd even after all these years of fishing even in terrible condition I have never experienced that before
  11. I'll be there on my lonesome like last year, hopefully I do a little better then last year though only catching 1 tiny ST
  12. I use a 1000 reel with 4lb braid and caught myself a healthy helping of salmon 40-50cm using a 15G metal slug over the long weekend. Geez the fight is fun
  13. I dont have one at the moment, it got stolen out the tray of my ute. In the meantime I have just been using a cheapie plastic container don't have much in there but it all ends up in a huge mess
  14. anything that combines wind/ weather, tides and lunar charts would keep me pretty happy, at the moment I have apps for all but does become a pain having to check all. Even an active widget which could be put on the main screen so it's even simpler to check current condition.I find most of my trips are unplanned so it's nice to get a quick update of whats happening at the time when I decide to head out
  15. I will be there, as will my old boy who due to these marine parks will be losing 90% of his hard earned fishing grounds
